Down with cell phones!

It snowed today. Snow and cold rain all day. With my great luck I ran out of gas and had to walk 2 miles to a gas station in the cold rain, drenched by the time I arrived. Then I had to climb the hill that I walked down on 2 miles back to my car. I smelled like a wet dog mixed with gasoline by the time I got to the gas station again to give the gas can back. The attendant was extremely friendly, and he smiled at me. I needed to see a smile after becoming drenched from my journey. I prayed that God would allow me to have some good message on my answering machine when I got home to make the day better.

I recieved a call from my ex roommate, who recently got married. She was calling about the phone bill, and said that she recieved one for April 7-30th. I called our landlord to find that she had put the phone in her name. She took pity on my impoverished state. A couple of weeks ago I wrote her a letter about me being a VISTA and how I really appreciated living in the house. Before I had written the letter she had refused to put the phone in her name. For the past couple of weeks I have been stressed because my other roommates were uninterested in paying for the phone. They both have cell phones. I finally decided to get a cell phone. Yet, I knew that the cost would be large, and I am poor.

It was the greatest relief to hear her say to me today, "I want you guys to be happy." She is also getting us a new dryer! Well, my day is made. I am happy. I didn't want a cell phone. I hate cell phones. They are over priced, and when I want to avoid people I want to avoid people. I don't want people to know that I am avoiding them.;) Although I could always say that I left my cell phone ringer off, or I left it somewhere else, I rather not have to give an explanation. And the contracts are a pain. Perhaps if I were unable to pay due to circumstances I could not control, my credit would worsen. I want to get out of debt, and I want to make my credit better, not worse.

God has blessed me today! For he knows the desires of my heart! Down with cell phones, and hale to landlords that show mercy on their impoverished tenants!
