He closed the door, resting his forehead against the wood, thankful no one could see his expression.
What had he been thinking, asking her if she wanted to come with?
She was so young, but then Adric and Nyssa had both been young and dear, sweet Sarah Jane.
Images of those left behind flashed briefly, and oh how he missed them and their unbound curiosity, if only-
No, stop it. He didn't deserve another chance, nor should she.
She'd said no, final answer, no going back.
He looked down, still feeling the warmth of her hand, maybe just this once.
