Summary : A get well card chibi style
A/N: Sorry no beta, but this was written for aibhinn, who is home from work with a migraine. Hopefully will bring a smile, since she already has chocolate :P
Having put the last load into the dryer Rose picked up the basket piled high with folded clothing and headed towards the bedrooms.
Stopping in front of the first door she kicked it lightly a few times while balancing the heavy stack in her arms. "Open the door I've got your laundry," she called out and waited. Receiving no answer she moved on to the next door, and again no one appeared to be in. Setting the basket in front of her door Rose wondered why it was suddenly so quiet when normally there was an assortment of activity going on, she'd learned quickly with the Doctor and eight small energetic chibi's on the loose; life was never boring or quiet aboard the TARDIS.
Walking along the corridors she ran her hand lightly along the wall then smiled and made her way to the study. Everyone accounted for she noted hastily surveying the room, but this silence was beginning to get to her.
"So, what's going-" she began and was immediately cut short with a chorus of shhhhh. Nine pairs of eyes staring back at her and nine fingers to lips in the universal signal for quiet. If the looks on their faces weren't so serious Rose would have burst out laughing, instead she tentatively placed her finger to her lip to acknowledge the silence.
Chibi!Ten stepped forward and handed her what appeared to be a small booklet while the others busied themselves once more on their various tasks. Taking the booklet Rose glanced over the front and smiled. It was a get well card hand drawn with crayons, the Doctor no doubt the artist as the figure lying in bed resembled Lister with his pus-filled head, and upon opening it Rose almost dropped the card. The inside looked like someone had exploded an egg, and a small chuckle from chibi!Master confirmed her suspicions. Turning another page she was relieved to see the picture of a normal-looking person asleep with a black cat curled next to them.
Excited meeping ensued as each chibi took credit for their additions. Chibi!Rose was happy to point out the colourful vase of flowers next to the bed, while chibi!Jack grinned at the single rose petal on the pillow. Rose rolled her eyes and gave him a quick hug. Not to be outdone chibi!Giac pointed at the silk covering of the pillow, and held his arms open for a hug as well.
Chibi!Carlisle pulled the card down flat onto the table and holding a red crayon with two hands he quickly added a few lollipops then switched to brown to include a couple of chocolate sweets earning him a quick squeeze as well.
Chibi!Nine stood over a small green square with silver patterns running across it and was hugging the Doctor's fingers, which held the sonic screwdriver. As chibi!Nine directed the beam and meeped quiet instructions to the Doctor, Rose peered over his other shoulder. Chibi!Nine let go of the Doctor's hand and bent over connecting two tiny wires then stood back as they listened to a soft lullaby emanate from the miniature speaker.
While the Doctor attached the song chip to the card, Rose kissed chibi!Nine on the cheek causing his face to turn a dark shade of red amidst a few whispered meeps of indignation from the others at being left out. Turning to see who was tugging on her sleeve Rose smiled at the newest member of their little entourage. Chibi!Sam stood looking a bit sheepish as he gave her a small package of pain pills with a piece of tape, earning him a smile and hug that left him a little more dazed looking than normal.
The Doctor pulled out a fountain pen and dipping it into the ink bottle blotted the excess then signed his name with a flourish handing the pen to Rose. She wrote her name then watched as each chibi added their inked hand print to the card, giving chibi!Master a glare until he covered over the rude gesture he'd left the first time and huffed his annoyance.
As the Doctor dropped the card into the postal slot Rose was reminded of the clean laundry needing to be put away while shaking her head in disbelief as the chibis wiped their inked hands on their clothing. Days like this could give one a headache.
