the legal system is horrible, very much so in fact.
My brother has been transfered to rikers island from the "tombs", true new yorkers would actually get exactly what that means oddly enough. For the rest of the people, its being transfered from a jail to a prison; yes there is a difference, look it up. Visits are limited and the journey there is waaaay longer too. There was no reason to transfer him either, he hasn't even been properly sentenced yet. They tried to claim it's because "He's been in for 8 months, its time to move him to real lock up" but my brother knew fellow inmates who have been there for years and not moved yet :\
