The next morning, I'd decided to stay up after sunrise. Luckily, since no one knew we were in business yet, I knew I would be undisturbed. This was good, for there was something new and sinister to deal with, and it was in this very room.
Casually, but hopefully not TOO casually, I walked over to the coffee pot and poured myself a cup, never taking my eyes off my opponent. Can't show weakness, it can sense these things.
Full cup in hand, I turned to face it and carefully, with measured strides, walked to my chair and sat at my desk. I took a sip, then set the cup down and determined to face my foe, whatever it threw at me.
Hello, Angel. You have 3 new e-mail messages.
I'd used computers before at the library, but that was just to look something up. I mean, I knew how to use Google. If someone had been doing it before and left it ON Google for me or I could flag down a librarian to bring it up.
"Ok, giant snake mayors and evil game show hosts are no problem, so checking this internet thing shouldn't be either," I said to myself as I cracked my knuckles and took hold of the mouse, clicking on my name.
About 10 minutes later, I was leaving a message on Willow's cell phone. Luckily, she'd thought to program it into the office phone before leaving me with this battle.
"Will, hi. It's Angel. Hey, um, when you're not too busy, I'm having a little trouble with my e-mail. It's kind of hard to explain. Well, this guy whose name is a bunch of letters and numbers jumbled together sent me a message that said he had some information I requested; I figured you must have talked to him in a chattyroom, because I don't remember asking anyone for information. Anyway, I think this guy's in trouble or something, because when I try to read it, it's got all these pictures of naked women and it's asking me for my credit card number, but I don't see any information here, so I'm thinking it must be some kind of code that you two must have worked out. Have...have we got an informant already? So, yeah, please come and help when you can. Bye."
