It will soon have been near half a year since that hell which we endured in August, wouldn't it? I shudder to think of what might become of all of our new residents if something similar might happen now, particularly given the weather. Snowfall with no end in sight for days now... how truly unfortunate the souls arriving now must be.

Without giving away overly much, the case revolved around a murder in which there is a great deal of blood on the floor, albeit no wound on the body. Similarly, on the wall, written in blood, is [And these are sounded out by letters] "R-A-C-H-E."

Ah... Well then, yes, it was the German word. From that a handful of other clues, Holmes was able to deduce the form of the killer as being six feet tall with notably small feet for such a height and a cigar smoker. [There's more to it than that, but he's going off what he can recall offhand]
