Balmy Saturday
My home's a little more cleaner right now, and I was restored to my rightful place by reoccupying the bedroom (aka the Inner Sanctum of Meditation). However, it was damn stuffy by the time I left home to update the blog.
But it's good fortune to be here with an air conditioner right down in this i-cafe.
Fearless
This movie is just right enough and fitting finale for Jet Li's brilliant career in moviemaking and martial arts, with his fame first made as a young wushu practitioner performing before then-President Nixon (or is it Ford?) in the White House. Visually and by theme it's a classy retrospect of his Once Upon a Time in China series, but Fearless is very much different. It's emotional, intense and once you come to the ending, it's not like anything else he made before.
Tony Jaa
Real Badmofo. That's what I call him after he does his kick-ass stuff in two of his films (one of which I watched this morning -- Ong Bak 2 (I think)). Besides, as a representative of a new generation of martial arts superstars, I think Tony's more credible than the current Prime Minister of Thailand. :P
House of Fury
The only thing that disappoints me about this film? It's the villain and I don't know HTF he, an invalidated ex-covert ops guy out to avenge for his broken spinal cord, manages to run a group full of thugs.
Zenki on Big Two: Not Getting Healthy
It's been cut down to size, and this is not very good to some of our friends. Hey, to the editors and the sked guys on Big Two... Now you're trying to screw down a very good classic, and that's enough! I want the sked done properly or Lucky Seven will be all over your asses with their anime arsenal!
Of Interest to Zambaleños: Paynauen and Dinamulag 2006!
The Paynauen Duyan Festival will be held between April 21 to 24, while the Dinamulag Zambales Mango Festival will also be held between April 26 to 29. Both are main important cultural events at Iba, Zambales, as we celebrate the history of the town and its rich mango resources.
