Perfect Timing
"Isn't it too early for this? What perfect timing they're doing for the elections!"
That's the first reaction I had when I saw the Christmas ads on TV from a pair of "mariginally good" (as in nearly insignificant, and accomplishments I know little of) politicians. Lately, even the recent Black Nazarene event in Manila was turned into an instant opportunity for some political campaigning, with posters, streamers, shirts and even the floats had some politician's name on them.
Pfft. Seems that in local politics, nothing has changed and there's no difference between then and now: it's all the same old tactics to get even a little foothold for public office, while there's little change for the good among the ordinary Filipinos.
