Hi. I'm making a greater effort to comment when I see something I think is out of the ordinary. I'm enjoying this story enormously -- the sense of a specific time and place is palpable. And I like the idea that Jack is still a mystery character. Can't promise to comment on every chapter but I am definitely hooked.
Thanks for letting me know you're there. I toy with the idea of disabling comments and just satisfying myself with watching the counter. I might do that with a particular chapter at a certain point, as it would be very fitting for people to be unable to express their reaction to it. But that is quite a way off.
Nice chapter! Did you know that the headquarters of the Appalachian Mountain Club are located at 5 Joy Street? That is my other life *sigh*
Ah... I remember the Rat... this is a real trip down memory lane for me. I also remember when only the Jewish kids knew what bagels were. My, how the times have changed!
Awesome news: My boss wants me to get a Twitter account and start learning to use it because he thinks I should be sending out tweets about our business to our clients. I thought that was hilarious because you suggested writing a tweeting story a couple weeks ago! I'll be fully versed in Twitter by the time a role becomes available for me!
I think you'd be an excellent participant in a Twitter-driven story so I'll keep that idea on the back burner. I'm in the US this week so I haven't been able to read the rest of your Salem story but intend to tackle it when I return in a few days.
I sense a deep love for Boston here! :-) It's nice learning to know the city together with Ennis, and I do enjoy the pictures. Glad to see the new chapter - I was strangely thrilled reading about how thrilled they were over the wonder that was their new first fax machine, and knowing all the stuff that has happened since.
Yes, I loved living in Boston and still miss it sometimes. So this story has been a pleasure to write. I have given Ennis a job with my old employer and I remember the day we tried out the new fax machine. It seemed so amazing!
Ennis going to the College of Communication!lol.ilu.that's actually brilliant. :D
a giant tank of molasses on this street exploded and this fifteen foot wave of the stuff destroyed some buildings and a load of people and horses drowned in it D: omg.
and thanks for the pics, i loved Quincy Market and the Hancock Tower.
I loved Filenes and so sad it closed was at the store for the closing and to listen to the bells ring. Yeah I got quite a few good deals but it really made me so sad and lost losing another great landmark like that. Yep cities are fun and exciting and Boston is just wonderful. Joe
I loved Filene's, too. There is one here in Washington where I'm visiting this week but it's not at all the same. But Ennis will end up buying most of his clothes at the Dollar-a-Pound place in Cambridge, which opened in 1981 so we have to wait a few months to visit it.
