It starts with two boys. Same height. Nearly the same hair. Gold and gold and that's what for which they were known. The Elric brothers. Not like anyone else around. Different

Are you alright? I can just imagine how difficult it must be to relive that nightmare. You were so young... you couldn't have known... that would happen.
I don't know. We've been separated and I had just found him again.
...People cannot gain anything without sacrifice. To gain something, you have to present something of equal value. In Alchemy, it's called the Law of Equivalent Exchange. When Brother and I were young.... we always believed it to be true. Sometimes, now, I wonder. But I've seen it work for so many things that I can't stop believing it.
Back then... we learned from it and made a choice. I don't regret it and never will.
I just can't believe that two such young children could go through that... I am just very glad that you two are alright.
It is true. But... there is no equivalent value for another life. I sometimes wonder if all those lives sacrificed was of equivalent value. I am trying to understand... dying at war, is dying with honor.
You are very mature for someone so young. I still have a few regrets.
We've been through a lot and we've seen a lot. I try to tell people our story because I don't want them to make the same mistakes we did.
The only equivalent value for a life is another life. My brother and I thought we were strong enough to bypass that, but we were not. And so we paid the price.
But when people die... it may hurt to see them go, but that's the order of life. When we die, we become the ground, from which grows the grass. Animals eat the grass and we eat the animals. One is all, all is one.
I have regrets too, Miss. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't. Not really.
Those poor boys! What happened?

I've had that nightmare many times. It won't go away. It's part of the price I pay. But that was years ago.
I'm sorry, um. I'm fine. I'm sorry you had to see that.

There is always a price to pay to get what you want. Like the many lives sacrificed at war for peace. That is just the way life is...
Do not be sorry. My concern was for you... and your brother.

You are so strong for someone your age. Back home, people your age still believe that the young won't die or that they are invincible.
I meet very few people who even thinks of life and death the same way you do.
