In SC apps, weapon-ing usually has to do with personality, but OOC reasons is all right with us as well. The usual one goes "because the character wants to protect someone!" etc etc, since being a weapon means being at the frontest of the front lines. Or like, the character will be terrible as a meister so being a weapon is a good choice. Or you want them to be a weapon because it gives you the character development you want to see for the character, that sort of thing.

For Watson, I made him a weapon because he's partly a cripple, bad at fighting unless it's with a gun, and would probably make a terrible meister because he'd get too worried over his weapon (and would therefore be unable to utilize the weapon in the partnership so well). But as a weapon, he'd give his all, which works better in the end. Watson is also more comfortable not having to make the quickfire decisions required in a meister -- but if I wanted him to develop that way, I could make him a meister instead, yeah?

For Germany, I made him a weapon because he literally is built to serve his country, body and soul, and in Soul Eater, the weapons are the flagship faces of Shibusen, re: the deathscythes. The eventuality of Germany becoming a deathscythe (assuming that all the weapons will become one in the far future) fits his nature of being a country with his kind of mindset very well. There are probably a lot of interpretations per character depending on you.

Oh! I think I see. I included a lot of that kind of thing in the section about why brew brought my character to Death City.

So Bang being a weapon basically because he wants to lead by example, and is generally too dumb to make decisions as a meister would be acceptable? In a few more words, of course.
