It had all happened in the blink of an eye on that day. One moment he was trying to help Winry and Miranda resonate, and in the next moment the Madness Wavelength had hit the city and had thrown all of them as well as Kanda into a future none of them had ever imagined.
The thought of Kanda flashed through his mind, and despite the angry words that had been spat at him, Yuuri couldn't help but find himself smiling softly at the memory. They had been at odds more often than not, but Kanda had never abandoned him even when he'd made the Meister livid. Yuuri had come to care for Kanda as much as he did Conrad and the others, and it was because of it that he felt a sharp churning in his stomach.
He brought his knees up closer to his chest at the thought and wrapped his arms around his legs. They had all meant the word to him, Winry, Miranda... Kanda, but they'd all returned home one by one, and while he had so many people around him who cared for him, there was some part of him that felt alone without the four of them here. They'd all meant so much to him that Death City felt a little empty without them.
It was a strange thought to consider, since the only other time he'd experienced that feeling was after leaving Shin Makoku for the last time, but he found that this had been just as painful. Had Wolfram and the others felt that way when he'd left them?
Of course Kanda had come back to the city, but he hadn't remembered anything that they'd gone through. Which had been painful to find out. Not that he could blame the Meister for that. Yet even know that, there had been times where he'd searched for this Kanda and had to remind himself that they hadn't experienced everything that had happened in the past... in his past now.
There was no one left in the city now who knew anything of what he'd been through, but that was just something that he'd have to try his best to ignore. Chin up, Yuuri! He thought while berating himself for falling into such thoughts. There were still others here that needed you!
He seemed to nod to himself before he finally stood up. Looking up towards Miranda's old apartment, he smiled softly, "I hope that you're all doing okay back home, and don't any of you worry... I'll continue to fight to protect the future we fought so hard for."
Glancing away, the young Maou spared one last look at the apartment before he began walking off. He wouldn't let anyone ruin all the hard work they all did, even if it took every last breath out of him, he'd protect the memories of his friends.
