[Problems, Guaranteed.] [Watcher.] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That entire night I tossed and turned, either too hot or too cold under the heavy blankets. There was minimal snoring noises way on the other side of the room, for that I was happy, but no matter what I couldn’t find that one comfortable spot. I had been up for glasses of water several times and didn’t feel like getting up again, so I reached down on top of the pile of clothes for my phone. I had to shut my eyes against the screen light, because it felt like staring into the sun, but as soon as they adjusted I noticed it said five new messages.
Who texted me five times…? Two were from Ape, asking why I had to be so reckless and that the manager was very upset, which I noticed when she yelled at us earlier. The third was from Jess, telling me to wish Ape and Phil a happy Anniversary for him since he couldn’t make it. Fourth was from Vito, my uncle, back home watching our house. It read ‘Fantastic party here, you dick! Missing it for that shit!’. But the fifth was a number I didn’t know.
‘Hey. Did you enjoy that?’ was all it said. Quickly I pressed Menu and Delete, getting it off my memory card. After that I shut my phone off and curled back up into a ball, staring at the replaced chandelier above the table. That message was a bit disturbing, though probably just someone texting the wrong number. I shut my eyes to yawn and never opened them again that night, falling asleep much faster than earlier.

“Is someone there?…” A voice…I couldn’t place just where it was coming from.
“Hello? It’s so cold here.”
My arms reached forward but there was nothing to hold onto. Something in the distance was shining, as if a light was reflecting off a surface. But the room was pitch black. I tried to sit up, feeling sick to my stomach. Something wet was all over the floor and my hands as I pushed against it to stand.
“Someone…anyone….”
There was that voice again. Who was it looking for? I opened my mouth to respond, to give the seemingly upset person some comfort that I was here too, but nothing came out. Words wouldn’t form and my throat felt dry. What was happening?!
As I willed my legs to move I noticed a body slowly come into view. It was lying there, motionless, covered by a dark blanket. I reached for it only to be shoved back by something. And then, the head turned toward me, to show-
“Brandon Cole Margera, wake up!!” Ape yelled in my ear, lifting one of my eyelids so I could see her face. I shooed her hand away, rubbing my temples.
“What is it?”
“It’s two in the afternoon, that’s what. Get up, you’re going to miss our tour. The bus leaves in half an hour and Jukka was kind enough to give us another ride. So get your butt in gear.”
I wanted to pull the covers back over my head and finish the rest of that unsettling dream but soon realized she had taken them off and draped them over the back of one of the chairs at the other end of the table. She smiled from the kitchen area as I sat up, stretched, and pulled some jeans on.
“You need to stop sleeping ‘til the crack of noon, understood? You’re 31 now, Bam, time to start acting like it. And that includes not breaking expensive furniture.” She was like the thing that wouldn’t shut up.
“Do you ever stop bitching?” I asked groggily, digging through the pile and throwing random clothes to the side trying to find the black hat to match my hoodie.
“I would if you’d just listen to me!”
“Yeah, yeah…” I walked away from the room then, out into the hall where Dico and Raab were sliding down it on those meal carts they use for room service. “Isn’t it a little early for bullshit, guys?”
Dunn jumped when he realized I was right behind him, “Yeah I wondered that too.”
I just shook my head and waited impatiently for Phil to get done in the bathroom so we could get this little ‘tour’ over with.
We started it off in a Double Decker bus, the kind they use in movies, and a woman was standing up with a microphone in her hand. Of course, all of it was in Finnish, but Ape just smiled and acted like she understood every single word.
‘Tervetuloa Helsinkiin, suurin kaupunki Suomessa. Meitä ympäröi Itämerellä. Helsinki perusti kuningas Kustaa ensimmäinen Ruotsin vuonna 1550” the lady babbled on and on for what seemed like hours as the bus slowly moved, making a circle around the fountain area that had been the changing point for my trip. We went down a busy street, it was weird to be driving on the other side of the road, and my eyes scanned for something interesting to focus on.
A large tower in the distance caught my eyes, I stared up and back down, seeing how it was so far up from the other houses. “Excuse me!” I interrupted her, raising my hand up. She turned with a scowl on her face but quickly replaced it with a fake smile. “Yes, sir?”
So she spoke English. Lovely. “What’s that?”
“Valo kotitalouksien. Koti suosittu muusikko.” I sighed, leaning back against the side rail of the bus. She couldn’t just tell me in English. We passed the Parliament building, and its fancy lawn, shortly after that, followed by the Helsinki Cathedral. Not gonna lie, the places were pretty awesome looking.
After ending the tour as night began to fall we were dropped back off at the hotel, and instantly Phil waddled himself over to the front desk to ask the man for menu’s to local restaurants. We sat on the cushioned benches in the front by the windows and shifted through the twenty we received. I grabbed one from Ape’s lap, opening the layers wide.
“Alright…” The name was ‘Ravintola Lasipalatsi’. “Well, look” I scrolled down with my finger, Dunn sitting on his knees and looking over my shoulder to see, “I can’t pronounce any of this. Ape!”
She looked over quickly, “What? Don’t yell, we’re in a public place.”
“My bad. How the hell are we supposed to order? For all we know, this ‘…suklaa-puolukkamoussekakkua could be a moose dick. I ain’t eatin’ a moose dick.”
“Gimme fifty and I so would!” Raab chimed in, leaning over to look at us. I shoved his head back and Ape shushed us again, turning back to their own menu.
Dunn moved my finger and pointed up a little, where it said ‘Klassikkomenu’, “What about…uh….Kuhaa… Manner heimin tap…aan?”
“Did you just say hymen?”
“No! That’s how you say that, asshat! Look!”
I shut the booklet, setting it down, “How about we just order beers?”
Bad idea. By the time midnight rolled around I could barely stand up, having to lean against tables. It was a usual to get shitfaced, just not in foreign countries. I kept myself sober enough to watch for Dico and the others, not wanting to lose track of them in the bar section of a crowded place. My parents stayed in the classy part of the building, eating what I could tell was lobster. How they ever figured out what was what I’d never know, taking another gulp out the beer bottle before pushing it across the table, standing up wobbly and making my way towards the men’s bathroom.
When I opened the door moaning assaulted my ears loud and clear, as I saw a tall blonde male push a girl up against the wall next to a urinal. I don’t think I’ve ever exited a room so quickly. There was an empty stool at the bar, to which I took, and asked the waiter as slow and un-slurred as possible for a water. The cool liquid was a relief to my burning throat and head, bringing comfort as it moved down.
Some women came stumbling close to where I was sitting and I tried hard to inch to the very edge of my stool without falling out, but one tripped and pushed right against me. My drink went flying to the floor, cup shattering into a million tiny glass pieces.
“Oh, sorry about thaatttt” she giggled, brushing hair off her forehead and leaning way too close. I stood up, giving her the most disgusted look I could muster, and turned to pick up the pieces before the bartender made his way fully around. As I bent down I was met with a pair of worn converse, eyes traveling up long legs to gloved hands, and then up farther to that oh so familiar face. His eyes held a look of pure amusement, smiling mirroring it, and I stood straight again.
“Pleasure meeting you here, Bam.” My heart thudded so hard I thought it might burst out. Ville.
