Rules

  • Age Restriction: First and foremost, due to the nature of the game, you must be over the age of fifteen to participate in Soul Campaign. There will be violence and adult situations; maturity is required from all players.

  • Godmoding: Godmoding will not be allowed in any form. This includes:

    • Your application was written for a specific character. As such, players may not control any character but their own. The only exception to this rule is when the mun's consent has been expressly given.

    • Your character will take damage. Characters will be put into dangerous situations on a regular basis; do not ignore all ill effects. No matter who they are, a character cannot escape unscathed every time.

    • Out-of-character knowledge is not the same thing in-character knowledge. As a player, you may know the situation, but do not let one influence the other. Characters cannot and will not know what is going on from the beginning unless given distinct in-character information from an NPC or another character.

  • Characterization: Please stay true to what you have presented to us in your application. While character growth is natural, we do expect you to stay true to your character's original canon. While Soul Campaign is an unusual situation for those involved, it is not an excuse for rampant OOC.

  • Proper English: Please use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation when writing your posts. Typos obviously happen and are impossible to avoid, but consistent butchering of the English language will not be tolerated.

  • OOC Drama: You are not your character. Please differentiate between in-character situations and out-of-character issues; we do not want drama or wank. It's not nice. If you have a problem with a player, character, or just general complaint, please bring it directly to the mods if you feel you cannot solve it by yourself. In addition, the Mods will have a post in the HMD comment for any thoughts/suggestions you may have!

  • Moderators: We're here to help, not hurt. All moderators will attempt to be easily reachable. Feel free to IM or email any of us at any time. We want to hear your opinions and will take everything into account. This game is about the players, not the mods, and we want that to be obvious.

On that note, when the bi-monthly HMD occurs we always put the moderator journal up for criticism. We ask you to use that if you do not wish to approach us directly.

  • Death Toll: This game takes place during a war, which means characters can and will die. If you are not willing to allow harm to come to your character, this is not the game for you. It is a survival game: characters will be fighting for their lives, and not all of them will succeed. This does NOT mean that mods will kill characters without player consent, it just means that we expect players to be reasonable with how they handle their characters and their actions within this setting.

Death is permanent here. If your character dies, they die. You will have to reapp them if you wish to play them again, and they will have no memories of their time here, since technically it won't be the same person.

On that note, dropped characters are sent back home unless planned out. When they return home, so do all their belongings.

  • Sexual Content: While the mods are aware that relationships will no doubt evolve out of the game's setting, we would prefer all graphic sexual content be friendslocked and placed behind an LJ cut with proper warnings. Not everyone wants to see your porn, and we ask that you respect this. Additionally, saying something happened without actually logging it is fine--we don't expect you to log every time your character eats a meal, so we don't expect you to log every time they have sex either.

  • Activity: Activity Checks will be held every first week of the month. These will consist of proving you have been active within the last month, as well as participating in the HMD meme posted every other month. This is a great time to get feedback on your character, and give the mods feedback as well!

The requirements to pass an AC are as follows:

Within the month before the Activity Check week, you have to have two of the following:

    - an entry with at least seven comments made by your character(chain comments and icon only comments do not count).
    - a log of more than five comments (three comments made by your character)
    - a thread between at least TWO characters, seven comments by your character (chain comments and icon only comments do not count).

You will be responsible for posting to the A/C. If you fail to reply, your character will be dropped. If you reply but lack the activity, that will be a strike against you. If you fail twice, your character will be dropped. However, if you make a strike and then pass, the strike will be cleared. If you pass, you will be allowed to app more characters. The maximum number of characters per player is four.

  • Acceptable Characters: Soul Campaign is a multi-fandom game, so you can app from any fandom as long as there is a sufficient amount of canon for it and its characters. We would also like to note that BREW brings in people with the potential to be of use and who can adapt to the world. If you are uncertain if you character meets these requirements please message one of the mods.

OCs are not allowed, nor are doubles of characters even if from different universes.

For characters with non-linear canons we must be given substance such as a profile made by the author.

    Other examples:

Hetalia characters must have either a profile or a strip.

Dr. Horrible characters can only be those with an actual role.

No one is exempt from any of these rules - all players are treated equally and fairly. There are no exceptions and no special favours.
