Conrart Weller- July 23 - Friday livestodefend March 25 2010, 21:33:23 UTC
He didn't want to be here. If he had his way, he'd take a few bandages, some disinfectant and take care of himself in his room, leaving this bed for those he was sure needed it more. However his injuries were making it impossible for him to escape. He couldn't even pull himself up to a sitting position without suffering agonizing pain. He had to admit that this time around he'll just have to occupy that bed. However he resolved himself to vacating it as soon as he could exit the clinic unassisted, even if the only way he could accomplish that was crawling and dragging himself onwards by his one good arm.

He was also worried to death about his partner. He'd tried to defend him but he knew he was not entirely successful. As soon as the other was well, they were going to have to have a serious discussion about honesty on the battlefield. He couldn't have a partner he couldn't trust.

Above all else though, more than the anger and worry for his partner, more than the pain, more than the sense of responsibility to all the other injured who could use this medical treatment, he was worried about Yuuri, Julia, his brothers and the Great Sage. He hadn't heard anything since he got back- everything was hectic and people were running around tending to the wounded. It was understandable that no one would have the time to tell him how the others were, but the unknown scared him more than everything he had experienced on the battlefield. He just hoped they would come soon so he could see they were ok.

Yuuri had been working to the point of exhaustion, but it was the least he could do. Watson had kept him busy and distracted from everything going on, and he had been more than grateful for that. The battle had injured far too many people, in his opinion, but he had done what he could and didn't stop until forced to.

He'd kept his eyes out for any of his friends entering into the clinic area. So far he hadn't see any. Yuuri didn't know if it was a good or a bad thing, but the young Maou wanted to believe it to a good sign. That was until he'd heard that Conrad had been gravely injured.

It felt as though the world around him had dropped away in that moment, and his chest clenched in fear. Eyes widening, Yuuri took off down the hallway. Dodging and swerving around the others in the hall, he ignored the yells and calls that he'd received for his actions, but it was the last thing on his mind.

"Conrad!" Yuuri called out as he reached the room and frantically peered into the room.

His head snapped up at the familiar voice, and a wave of agony followed it. However he ignored it and picked himself further up in search of that voice. "Your Majesty? Yuuri??" he glanced around the room until his eyes fell upon the familiar figure. Immediately relief washed over him. He was standing on his own and appeared unharmed. He offered a word of gratitude to Shinou in his mind. "I'm over here." he called out to him, signaling him over with his one functioning arm.

He could feel the breath being stolen from him at the sight that he found. "Co-Conrad!" There was nothing but fear held in his voice before Yuuri ran over towards the side of the bed. Just where was Conrad beneath all that bandage and plaster?!

He should have been there with them. Maybe... maybe he should have been there!

He let his head drop back down after catching Yuuri's attention- keeping it up was just too difficult. However when the other approached his bed he immediately gave him the usual warm smile. He had perfected not allowing his pain to show on his face to an art by this point. "Yuuri- you're unharmed, right?" his visual examination showed no reason to fret but he had to make sure.

He couldn't even imagine what Conrad was going through at this moment. The sight before him caused his chest to hurt, and Yuuri's hands clenched into fists at his side.

"Don't worry about me!" Yuuri cried out while trying to hold back the tears he felt brimming in his eyes, "What about you... you look--" Terrible? In pain? I've seen you look better? What could be said?! Nothing was good enough or would make the situation any better. What he wouldn't give for his majutsu right now, and the thought that he was powerless left him feeling cold inside.

Reaching out for Conrad's relatively uninjured hand, Yuuri grasped onto it tightly as he softly muttered, "I should have been there with you."

Conrart grasped Yuuri's hand back. "No." He said firmly. "Yuuri, if you were there it would have been far worse. I wouldn't have been able to defend you and I wouldn't be able to live with that. I'm fine, these wounds would heal and they look worse than they are. You staying far away from the battlefield is the best thing you can ever do for me." It was vital to make that point clear. If Yuuri had been there...he didn't know what he'd do. He'd probably die, and then who would have defended him after his passing? No. Yuuri could not set foot on a battlefield, he was far too important, too pure to be in a place of death like that.

He knew the words that would follow his statement, but Yuuri didn't care. Seeing Conrad like this was just something that he couldn't stand despite how much his friend's words rang true. Sitting back on the sidelines had been the hardest thing that he'd ever done, and Yuuri could easily say that it was something that he didn't want to do again.

Yuuri didn't once release the hold he had around Conrad's hand. The thought of letting go made him think that he would lose Conrad forever, and that was something he never wanted to happen. "So how bad are they?" Yuuri quietly muttered instead as he took in all the bandages and plaster wrapping the wounds.

[ooc: I'll wait til the end of time for you <3]

The soft smile returned to his lips. "They're not so bad, Your Majesty. I'm sure I'll be back on my feet soon enough." It was crucial to him to calm the other down, to make him see that this was no where near the end of the world. The last thing he wanted was the other blaming himself.

[ooc: D'aww same for you too, ♥]

Back on his feet? Yuuri was almost tempted to make sure that Conrad still had feet with all things considered. "Conrad," Yuuri whined softly before shaking his head, "You could start up your own hospital with all the bandages you have on you."

He laughed softly, biting his lip when the action gave him a firm reminder of his injured ribs. Laughing was out of the question, he firmly reminded himself. "It's not so bad, I've been far worse before." he felt a change of subject was necessary. "How are the others?"

Yuuri rather liked the sound of Conrad's laugh. It told him that his friend was still alive, and that was all that mattered. His enjoyment of the sound, however, was tainted when it looked as though the other was in pain. Yuuri felt his expression soften at the sight, and he gave a comforting squeeze to Conrad's hand.

"None of the others went out to the battle," The young Maou softly spoke, "Gwendal helped with Watson and the others... Wolfram... I haven't seen Wolfram or Gunter... Murata was helping out there as well, but I haven't seen him yet either." The realisation that he hadn't yet contacted the others caused his mood to drop. What sort of friend was he when he didn't even know what state the others were in. "I'll also have to go and see if Sara's alright. He went into the battle as well."

The fact that Wolfram and Gunter had not yet found Yuuri was worrisome. Very worrisome. He felt an urge to throw himself of that bad and go look for his little brother, and if Yuuri wasn't there and so worried, he might have done just that.

"I'm sure they'll find you soon enough. Maybe you could use that devise to contact them?"

He really needed to stop being so distract by everything else and focus on those that really needed it. Still, he couldn't find it within himself to part from Conrad's side... not yet, anyway.

"I'll do that in a little bit," Yuuri softly muttered before reaching over with one hand to pull over the chair. If he didn't sit down soon, then he'd probably start pacing with worry, and he didn't want to let Conrad worry about anything else. He had more than enough to worry about as it was. "How long do the doctors think you'll be stuck in here?"

"A few days." he smiled "You have nothing to worry about. I'll be fine. I told you I will never leave your side."

There was no doubt that Conrad meant those words, but seeing him here like didn't make things any easier. The smile he received did comfort Yuuri, more than he'd ever let on, and he sighed in relief when it seemed that Conrad would be out within a few days.

"That's good to hear," He murmured, "I'll make sure that you keep it as well. I don't ever want to lose you, Conrad."
