And the dark takes hold. )
The girl made as if to follow him (it was only proper, as his Weapon), but immediately thought twice when her whole body protested. She braced herself against the wall, feeling, once more, the weight and pain of her injuries.
At least it was over.

"Hey, you just got pretty beat up. Don't rush off to fast." he wasn't sure if she was the type of person who would push off help after a fight- but after seeing her take on the shadow he was pretty sure it was safe to offer.
"Here, you can lean on me if you need to?"
Reply
"You did not need to come."
She wasn't angry, wasn't sad... she was genuinely worried, in her own way, about why Ash had bothered. He could have been hurt, if things had gone poorly.

He helped her walk a bit, glancing down at the ground. Ash wasn't really good at reading humans, even after knowing a person for years, but he could at least tell she was worried. He'd been too.
"Just in case."
Reply
"...Thank you, for that."
She smiled, in a way that she had never smiled before since her arrival in Death City.
Reply
"It's no problem. That's what friends do, right?" He manages to offer her a bright grin.
"You're okay, right?"
Reply
He stiffed, and brought out a pink handkerchief to dab at his eye. Ah, they grow up so quickly...

Laura tilted her head before peering up close and personal into Ash's face.
"Your cheeks are red."
...She was, of course, willfully oblivious to Armstrong listening in.
Reply
Saving a town yes, but just showing up somewhere he may have been needed.
"...What your shadow said..."
Reply
"It is true. I was a hired killer."
Reply
"...why'd she call you x-23?"
There was no point asking about anything else; it was the past and even with what he'd seen; it was still hard to drag stuff up. He didn't want to put someone else through it.

She did not like remembering, but she felt as though she owed Ash an explanation. As such, Laura resolved to tell him as much as he wanted to know.
Reply
"Well, you're Laura now. That's what matters."
Reply
Because the last thing Laura wanted was for Ash, her new found friend, to avoid her.
Reply
He was a little weirded out by this new information; but Ash was never one to put a person's past actions to judgement. Laura was Laura as she was know. That's who he knew, even with the knowledge that she had murdered people.
It...just didn't seem to matter much.

Laura paused at her own words, and chuckled just a little. She never realized that she could feel relieved after laughing. In fact, she can't remember the last time she had ever laughed, if she had done so at all.
"That is the second time I have thanked you today."
