[Naoto pauses longer before Watson than most do. The doctor is an acquaintance after all - she is not yet confident enough to call anyone 'friend' - and deserving of a longer greeting.]

Dr. Watson, thank you again for organizing this activity.

[He looks fairly satisfied with how the introduction to the activity went, but also a bit tired. Still, he is pleased, and takes a moment to watch everyone gather around and such. Oh, and a surprise!]

Don't mention it. It was a pleasure. [warmly]

Quite a plethora of individuals have decided to attend. [She nods at the milling people.]

It is good to see I am not alone in my difficulties concerning Weapon transformation.

[Her eyes pick out the various people in the crowd who are having no success whatsoever in transforming.]

Oh, you are hardly the last. [a bit of a sigh] It seems the situation is worse than I initially imagined. It would be easier to count the number of weapons who can change at will and quickly than otherwise.

This...ability is not a natural thing for many of us. I myself would still disbelieve claims of such powers existing if I had not seen it myself, first-hand.

[Her voice lowers slightly. Pitched so only Watson can hear.]

I am uncomfortable with the thought of becoming something else, of being 'wielded' by another. Not all will be as kind in their acceptance of my ruse as you were, Dr. Watson.

From what I hear, nothing is hidden between a Meister and Weapon as they resonate.

I understand your discomfort. I, myself, remain resistant to the change. But if for anything, I believe the people here seem open to such things? Surely your friends know your true gender. Have they ever protested?

Mm, yes, that is what I've heard, but have never experienced. We should inquire.

'My friends'... [Naoto trails off, looking uncomfortable.]

They know me, but I do not know them. I have yet to experience the events that made us more than acquaintances and schoolmates. They say that they accept me...but...

[She gives a boyish shrug of annoyance, turning her mind to present concerns rather than questions she cannot discern the answer to.]

Of who should we ask such details? It almost seems a rude question to ask.

Is it not the time to acquaint yourself with them better, then? [gently]

[Straightens up and surveys the scene.] I remember that Kurapika said he can change forms quickly. He also seems to have a partner. Perhaps we may ask him. [Ahem, and calls out, more loudly:]

Kurapika?

[Naoto nods uncertainly, remaining silent on the subject. She looks curiously for the boy that Watson has called out to. Kurapika is one who met the self who had been here previously. Since she had arrived, they had engaged in pleasant conversation.]

[He hears Watson calling for him while he's in the middle of yet another attempt to coach Gintoki through the process of pulling at his nen, but so far all Gintoki's managed to show him are some spectacularly bizarre faces. Not surprising considering that the man isn't from his world in the first place, but Gintoki insisted on at least trying the method.

The blond looks over his shoulder to see the doctor and Naoto Shirogane waiting for him, and he gives Gintoki one last (futile) word of encouragement before turning to approach the other two.]

Doctor?

[Tips his head in Kurapika's direction.]

I'm sorry for interrupting your lesson, but if you would be so obliged... Shirogane and I would like to hear more about resonating with one's partner. [EXPECTANT LOOK] Ah, have you two met?

[The detective nods, dark eyes holding on the blond boy's face. His voice drops to lower more masculine tones out of habit.]

We have. May I ask how your work is going, Kurapika?

[He asks, referring subtlety to their last conversation about a dangerous individual Kurapika warned him of.]

[Kurapika nods at Watson's question--as much as meeting both over the network counted as "meeting". This is the first time he'll be talking to Naoto in person, though. He considers the younger boy's question next.]

Err. It's going well, more or less. [A truce is always a good thing for world peace, right? Despite it being counterproductive to his original goals...] Thank you for asking.

[And then to the both of them:] Resonating? You want to know about how it's like from my point of view?

[nod nod] We weren't quite sure just how resonance worked, you see, as weapons. [Masking the real question, somehow. Apply Holmes' teachings!]

For example, I've been told it is like a 'warm hug on a cold night', but surely there's a more concrete definition than that? It sounds... rather invasive.

[Naoto doesn't add to Watson's dialogue, confident in the older man's words. He is listening intently, however.]

[makes a face, because seriously, warm hugs + Kuroro does not compute] I think it depends on the level of your resonation. The lower the level, the less you'll feel the link. I don't... really get along that well with the person who's been wielding me, so most of the time the link is barely noticeable. The one time it was high enough to be considered invasive was during the sandstorm. We were sensing each other's thoughts and feelings.

[more slowly now as he thinks of how to phrase his words] As for the feeling of being hugged... I believe it's more accurate to say that it feels warm and--[falters; he very nearly says "protected", but he never wants to think of himself as such while resonating with Kuroro]--sheltered. Like you're in a bubble. Sensations feel sharp and distant at the same time.
