He spotted the woman as he set the items down, and saluted smartly. "Good day. You are here to visit?"

“To visit?” she repeated uncertainly. The man was a stranger so she wasn’t sure why he thought she might be coming for a visit. And having been shunned in her hometown for her abilities, it still seemed like a small miracle when she was invited into people’s homes.
“Actually, I was just looking around the city and got turned around.”

Too happy, actually. Germany didn't usually give his brother's wilder tendencies notice, but he figured it wouldn't hurt for today. Unfortunately, Germany didn't elaborate on what Preußen might do if he saw an actual guest among them. She'd know soon enough.

Being an outcast in her hometown had meant a lack of party invitations, birthday or otherwise. It was kind of exciting finally being asked to celebrate someone’s birthday, even if she didn’t know the person in question.
“I don’t think we’ve met before. My name is Lily Ivory.”

She asked a bit uncertainly, “Your parents named you after a country?” Her travels had taken her to Germany although her memories of that country weren’t the best. It had been a remote Bavarian town where she had finally tracked down the male witch that was her father…

"I'm the--" Simple terms, simple terms. He had to use simple terms. It wasn't her fault if she couldn't understand what he meant, because this world was very unlike theirs and countries did not walk around without trousers on. "I am the spirit of the country, given human form. But I am not usually mortal."

The country was just sitting there, staring at the lady who unfortunately decided to stop by that day.

Since there didn't seem to be anyone else around who could be the brother... Lily couldn’t say for certain-she had been treated as an outcast by the people of her small west Texas hometown and had never received invitations to birthday parties-but didn’t birthday parties usually have more guests?

Prussia didn't seem to recognize that what he was doing might have been considered inconsiderate, but at the same time, he probably wouldn't care even if he had known. There is definitely a reason why people have problems with this guy.

"I'm sorry. I don't get invited to many parties. And I just happened to be walking by when your brother invited me in."

SADFACE. Still, despite that, he holds out a plate of cake for her to take if she was inclined to take cake!
