o-orz. Sorry if I'm interrupting something. Meant to tag this ages ago. endthiscycle January 23 2010, 05:42:27 UTC
Wow. Prussia certainly had a lot of visitors today. She knew Spain had been coming, but she hadn't expected all the others, especially not Roy. She didn't mind too much though. In a way it was nice--gave her a bit of a break, and she knew that Prussia would be glad for all the visitors.

There, however, remained the problem. Prussia was a distraction. With how much that guy talked, argued, and tried to escape she had had her hands full for a long time which was a good thing. Without that, her mind now wandered.

Back to Edward's disappearance, back to what might be happening back in her world, back to the discussion she had had with Ling. Would she sign the contract? Would she even be of any use out in the battlefield? Then the most important question: what would they think of her?

It made her stomach twist, and she remained by the window looking out, as she so often had back home in Rizenbul--as if doing so would magically return Ed to her and Alphonse's side.

In the rush of coming in, mingling with the others and dealing with Prussia, he had not noticed Winry immediately. That wasn't supposed to happen to a guy like him, with the way he had survived wars, and then some. Now that he was aware of her presence, however, he couldn't exactly ignore her.

Roy quietly separated himself from the rest of the group, leaving the men to their talk. He approached the girl, displaying none of the hesitance that he actually felt.

"I hope you don't mind the intrusion."

Winry pulled her face away from the window and looked over when she heard someone addressing her. When she saw who it was, she stood and gave a small polite bow of her head.

"Not at all. He's always really happy to have visitors." she said, jutting her head in Prussia's direction. Spending so much time together had shed a bit of light on him, and she knew that loud and goofy attitude aside things were still a little difficult for him.

She smiled at Roy and held out a hand to shake "Sorry that we didn't get to properly catch up before. How have things been for you since you were dragged here?"

Roy took her hand after a moment and gave it one pump before releasing her. To his credit, he didn't seem tense at all - maybe a tad bit more stiff than usual, but nothing too alarming.

"They could be better," he thoughtfully remarked, "but I suppose that a little excitement never hurt anyone."

She nodded, looking around for a moment before she grabbed an extra chair off to the side and pulled it over so that Roy may have a seat as well.

"Well excitement is the one thing this place has in boatloads. At least in all the time I've been here if its not one thing, its another." Granted she hadn't been here very long, even if it felt like it had been a long time.

Roy took the chair with murmured thanks, and smiled at the girl's other words.

"Seems like it. I see you've been keeping yourself busy?"

She lowered herself down, leaning back a little on the chair and nodded.

"Yea, pretty busy. I still don't really know what to think of Shibusen. A part of me says it should be okay to trust them but" a laugh now "I don't really trust my own sense of judgment when it comes to character."

She quieted a little at that before speaking again. "At first I wanted to work at the school clinic. See if maybe I could continue doing what I know and helping while I could get at least a little more information on them. They never did get back to me though, and that's why I started this." she gestured the clinic with a hand.

"That is fair. Perhaps you can ask them at another time."

Roy noted Winry's words regarding Shibusen and their institution, but did not comment on them. The girl's assessment of them might come in handy in the future.

It was strange. In truth Winry had only really talked two Roy twice before--or rather she talked to him once. The other time she had merely seen him and talked to the Lieutenant. Regardless both had left quite an impact on her, and of course she had so often ended up with Edward complaining about him. He really wasn't anything like Edward had said (loud-mouth, womanizing, egotistical). Not that she had expected him to be quite like that, but this strange silence about him wasn't the silence of someone who was just a quiet person. At least it didn't feel like that...

It made her fear for what might have happened back home.

"Mustang, sir? If I may ask...what time are you from?"

"I'm not sure how to explain it, actually," Roy replied, after a moment's thought. "I haven't been able to talk to the others at length. I do know, though, that Ling does not appear to exist in my time. Fullmetal is also no longer in my world."
