[He's accepted (with some heel-dragging) that to fully do his job he has to be willing to do this using-a-human-weapon thing. And if a partnership doesn't work out, he's still going to need a way to do this.

He's also just interested in meeting others in the Watch because Kenshin hasn't been doing a whole lot of socializing and it's nice to know with whom one would be working as a group.]

[Curious clothes. They look familiar. Genesis draws in a little closer.]

Where are you from?

Oro? [turn and a blink.] Japan, eleventh year of Meiji-1878, that it is.

[redpeacock]

Japan... [He blinks.] Might you know a "hi-no-moto"? [Because your clothes look a lot like Date's and his retainer's.]

[maashiro]

That is an old name for Japan, that it is. [Genesis' clothes, on the other hand, don't look like any sort of style that Kenshin knows. He tilts his head] Do you know someone from there, then?

I know Date Masamune. But I'm not sure if it is the same world as yours.

[maashiro]

Date Masamune-oro? The "one-eyed dragon"?

It's a familiar name-though more than two hundred years before this one's time.

[His eyes widen at that.]

Two hundred years ago? So he was a part of history in your world?

[maashiro]

Indeed. A legendary warrior, that he is.

[redpeacock]

Legendary... [He looks positively amazed by that statement.]

I would have thought it possible of him, but... to be deemed so two hundred years after his time... that is certainly a feat.

[maashiro]

It would be hard to forget someone as [ruthless] successful as he in our history, during a time of political change, as it was. How did you know him?

[redpeacock]

I see. Masamune was my meister for one mission. Aside from that, we worked together in the Watch for a time until he was sent home. His weapon and I were good friends.

[maashiro]

Were...? Did he return home as well?

[redpeacock]

Yes. He was returned as well.

[maashiro]

I'm sorry to hear it. So you're short a friend and... short a partner.

[redpeacock]

Yes, I am. [He nods.]
