"Hi there!" She piped in response, waving before she looked him over once. "You ready to g---What happened to your clothes." Kaoru deadpanned, looking at them then back at him, then doing it again.

"Looks like we'll need to look for some clothes then too. I guess I'm not the only one who arrived here banged up, huh? " She cracked a smile before she stretched her arms, nodding once.

"Okay, let's go then! We've got work to do!"

"I was too..or well, to be honest, I thought I was dead when I arrived here. It looked like the end for us. " Her chipper tone seems to die for a brief moment, before she brightens again. "But I found out from Kenshin that we all survived the battle, and my apprentice is safe, so it made things a lot more bearable."

She glances over her shoulder. "A journey? Where were you headed? "

"A camel? That does sound pretty neat." She smiled in response, she had no idea what a camel was, she just found out from a friend what a giraffe even was so she had to take it in stride!

"For your sister then? I see! Trying to be the brave big brother. That isn't fair at all." She started laughing, inwardly chastising BREW for doing what it did. Seperate people from family.

Then again..If I hadn't been here I wouldn't have met Tomoe-san, or Rei-san, or Takuto or Tifa-san or all sorts of people. It's not all bad..

"Well, I guess you're just going to have to hang tight until BREW decides to send us home. It can be something to look forward to! I don't want to make you homesick, but what's Xing like, exactly?"

She listened, before tilting her head. "That sounds hard..not so different from Japan. We're recently adapting with 'trains' and 'steam-engines' ourselves. Must be a coincidence. But..I get what you're saying I think." Her blue eyes furrowed.

"It's the leadership that's a problem, isn't it? " She walks past him, nodding her thanks as she walks down the steps, waiting for him to catch up. Ling seemed pretty insightful, like he really cared about his country. In a way? It reminded her of Kenshin. And also? It reminded her about herself. Maybe not the country as much as she cared about people.

"No, Japan. In one go. " Kaoru laughed in response, before she tilted her head. "Well..Japan was recently run by the Tokugawa Shogunate up until the end of the Bakumatsu. After that it brought on a new era of peace called the Meiji Era, under the Emperor Meiji. He's mostly a figurehead, the real power comes from the Meiji Government..it's all kind of confusing to a civilian like me, but that's the gist of politics! We're..kind of isolated, and we've recently gotten interested in things from the west, but we have a lot of the same sorts of traits your Xing has! Like that rice you want to get? A big part of agriculture. " She trailed off. "I live in Tokyo, where it's a lot of different dojos, businesses and farming all in one. We're surrounded by ocean but we have a lot of different islands scattered around us ..we're not very big. We have some trees, farmland..mountains..and in the spring we have beautiful sakura-hana. Or um, Cherry Blossom trees ( ... )

She smiled back. "Oh but what if I start babbling? That'd make bad first impressions!" She laughed, before opening the door, the air mild, Shibusen the same as always. Strange and unfamiliar and yet somehow a new home ( ... )

Kaoru covered her mouth to hide a snort. Her new friend was..pretty interesting. One minute he seemed extremely serious and the next she could easily compare him to an idiot. But then he mentioned writing things down and she imagined that he was really quite intelligent..

"It is unusual, but I believe there's a way to protect people without taking life. Killing is wrong no matter what reason is behind it." Kaoru said firmly, sapphire eyes meeting his. "My Father put blood, sweat and tears into that truth, and for his honor, no, because I believe it too, I'm going to fight to make it a truth for kenjutsu." A slightly sheepish smile appeared on her face.

"Kenshin says..that my ideal is nothing but a naive lie that only people who haven't stained their hands with blood can believe. But he also says..that he himself wishes that it becomes a truth for swordsmanship. So I know it can happen someday!" She said passionately, hands in gathered fists in front of her. She then pinkened. She was going off again ( ... )

"I'm sure it won't be too hard. Don't look too down." She said with a smile. "It helps if you have people from your world to come so it's even easier to spread, ne? A lot of people claim to be from my country's future, so it's really very confusing. You're pretty lucky, it's better than getting a headache with each newcomer. "

Kaoru felt genuinely touched that someone agreed. Many people here she knew had branded her as a naive idealist, and yet--it still meant a lot to her that he was trying to understand. "I will. Once we get you settled sometime."

She started listening to his description, quietly filtering through the stores until she found one she was used to shopping at, pausing at his words. "Eh? You know Mustang-san?"
