The papers, Roy Mustang realized, were certainly not going to do themselves, and he had no intention of doing them either. The Meister had gone back to the office after speaking with Edward Elric on the pretense of actually getting something done, only to discover that he could not, for the life of him, function the way he was supposed to anymore.

Roy pushed himself out of his chair with a little sigh. Might as well go out and get some fresh air. And smoke. Smoking was always good.

Flynn had been resting outside, enjoying the open air before going back to work. He paused when Roy came out, smoke in hand. He wrinkled his nose a little, but that was something he always did- it wasn't like he wasn't used to the habit long before he came to DC. He couldn't even complain, seeing as in his world magical healing was advanced enough that cancer was a much more minor issue, yet at the same time non-magic medicine was behind enough that few people even knew it existed in the first place, or at least the causes.

"Flynn."

A nod, and Roy was moving to stand on the other side, lighting up. No customary greeting, no usual smile. He was a bit too out of it for something like that.

Flynn didn't mind the short greeting, giving his employer the quiet company he seemed to be requesting... Still, it was strange- Roy was usually a bit more talkative. He turned, tilting his head in silent question.

And perhaps another slight cause for alarm might be the fact that Roy didn't immediately notice the younger man's gaze. When he finally did, he blinked, smiled just a bit, then returned to his cigarette.

"Not having the best of days right now."
