Casualty Communal
It was apt, in a way, that barely a few days into the new year the BREW decided to spit out a new batch of people. Good thing it had not happened during the festivities themselves... that would have been tricky, to say the least.
Soul Eater Evans shuffled over to the front of the gathered crowd, eyeing the folks for a bit before looking over at the volunteers who had signed up to help him out. He waited for things to quiet down before calling everyone’s attention and introducing himself. Once they were good to go, he started on the tour, talking as he moved around, gesturing to whatever he was referring to as they went.
“This place we’re going through is Casualty Communal, and the ones over on that end are the Creeping Crypts. These are free pads that Shibusen’s giving over to you guys... rent’s free, so just pick your room and do your thing. Things should change, though, once you partner up with somebody.”
Soul paused there, waiting until they reached a good spot to view another set of buildings in the distance.
“That area is Death City Heights, the place that Shibusen’s carved out for partnered pairs. Rent’s also free there, and the places are bigger. Just a head’s up, though... you don’t actually have to move if you don’t want to. Thing is, we’re getting new guys pretty regularly, so it’d good to ship out and leave some space for them once you’re able.”
Then it was back to the usual clear spot that he had picked out on his tour route. SEES had their help desk cum reception area all set up: a large table, stacked with baskets containing food, toiletries and other basic starters. Each had a card in them, welcoming them to Death City. The table was, of course, manned by their members, distinguished by a bright red armband emblazoned with the acronym ‘SEES’.
“Other things you ought to know about: we’ve got a clinic for the sick and the injured, and the shopping area’s got pretty much everything you need. Shibusen’s paying for a lot of the basic stuff, but you’ll have to earn your own cash to buy whatever isn’t covered by that. If you’ve got any questions, ask me or any of the others here.”
"And what if we prefer to live somewhere with actual privacy?" As in, alone and not in one of these large buildings. "I don't know about you, but I'd prefer somewhere where I won't have to deal with a bunch of loud kids running around."
Hiko had see tall buildings before, but not so many in one location. He also wasn't too keen in living in the same building as so many people, so if there was any way for him to find some privacy in this city, he'd take it.
Soul could sympathize with that. He honestly couldn't imagine living at the Communal himself, or even at Death City Heights. He rather liked the quiet corner he and Maka had to themselves in the city.
"You can move out to some of the less crowded buildings once you've earned some money. We've got listings for the rooms and prices up for reference."
"Not hard at all. I'd suggest getting a job first, though." A beat. "Some of the other guests have some gigs that pay pretty well, but it all depends on what you're good at."

That's what the table full of baskets were for; the new guests that had just arrived. SEES had put a lot of work into them all, filling them with cans of food, bottles of shampoo and conditioner with bars of soap, along with a few changes of clothes, both male and female. Just in case someone came in in their pajamas.
But there were several people around in the different areas, all wearing a red armband with the acronym SEES on it; they're there to help. And Souji, with his basket of goods at the C.C, is there to help out in this area of the tour. So come on up to him, ask any questions about Death City or SEES, and grab your free basket!
Chika blinked as she looked around the SEES table, and at the guests who were around. "Wow, it's sure taking people a lot of time to get over to us, isn't it?" she asked, looking over at Souji. "Is it usually like this to start with?"
This was her first time helping out with SEES during the time that BREW gave them new arrivals. Stuff had always come up the last couple of times, so she hadn't known what to expect.scrp inbox filter
Souji laughed and shook his head. "No, actually, it's usually more busy then this. They must be taking some more time with the tours then usual. I know there are a few new people in the groups."
Chika smiled, nodding as she listened to what Souji said. "That makes a lot of sense. I mean, it's been a while since we've had some new people come in, after all."
She then blinked as she thought of something. "Hey, do you think BREW might have brought a lot more people here? Compared to normal, I mean." scrp inbox filter
Chika smiled, nodding a bit. "Yeah, it's been about twice as long as it usually takes for us to get new people, hasn't it? I hope we have enough baskets for them."
"It has, actually," Souji nodded, leaning against the table. "We should have enough. We've been making them for awhile, now, and we've always had leftovers. But if we don't have enough, we can try to make some fast."

This was truly becoming a hassle. But he would figure something out.

Soul seriously doubted that this guest would be able to do that given the way things were, but hey. Different strokes, different folks.
"Need to ask anything else?"

"No, that's enough."
