Description: Lain tries to talk about feelings. Naruto screws up all the things. Apparently the way to make it right is by stalking the poor girl.
He doesn't know what he's doing is an understatement.
Because doesn't know what he's doing doesn't even begin to cover it. Because he'd gone into the whole party thing with the intention of having a good time, and started talking to Lain expecting maybe to dance again. And then he'd started listening to her talk sure that he knew what was going on. Sure that he could try and help, even if all of his advice was going to be awful.
But none of that had actually worked out at all. So far from it in fact, that the image of her retreating back keeps playing over in his mind. The sight of her face, twisted with anger and sadness before she'd turned away. His shoulders remain sloped, chin dipped towards his chest, and he doesn't mutter the curse that hangs in the back of his mouth. How long he's been out here, sitting on the floor outside her apartment- he doesn't know.
Similarly, he has no idea how long he still has to wait. As the silence stretches on around him and the new year's party continues in the city beyond- the only thing he's sure of is that he's going to stay here. For as long as it takes.
