Characters: Rokudo Mukuro & Rhode Kamelot Location: Egypt, near the Pyramids Rating: PG or higher for violence! Time: January 2, morning onwards Description: Darling, it's been a long, long time.
Egypt had sounded far more exciting and romantic in theory than it was in reality. It was lovely, in a scenic sort of way, and being able to see such ancient places was always fascinating for Rhode- But she hadn't quite prepared herself for the fact that she'd be getting sand in her boots every time she kicked up too much as she walked, or how tired she would get while trekking across the dunes, sunglasses keeping her quite safe from any light-related headaches before they got there.
"I'm coming. It's hard to walk on this. Besides, your legs are longer than mine, and I can't keep this up as long as you can!"
Rhode took the opportunity to pause, giving her partner her most pathetic and needy expression.
"Would you carry me? Just for a little while?"
Once he had turned, she was sprinting to try and catch up to him, grabbing for his sleeve so he could tow her along. It was silly that she was this winded, in comparison to her partner, but she had never been one to travel any long distances on foot. Even after all this time in Death City, she was still far more accustomed to casual strolls up and down steps.
"Not perfectly," she sighed, but she knew better than to press the issue.
Keeping her hold on his arm, she stayed quiet, looking out at their surroundings. Sand, landmarks, sand, sky... She'd read about this place in the paper, once, and the Family had been in this general area to interfere with Exorcists, but she hadn't taken any particular interest in Giza. It would be fascinating, though, to see structures that had been around for more than half as long as her Family had been. Nearly five thousand years...
"I don't suppose we can buy ice cream anywhere nearby."
"I know you'll win, anyways, so giving it to me now would be the same as giving it to me later. I just have to transform and be cozy, and I think something sweet would help that~"
Rhode was looking up at him, eyes shining hopefully. She could tell that her partner was a bit anxious to fight, but she wasn't quite willing to sacrifice a chance for some indulgence for him.
"You told me yourself, you won't get hurt. You know how to fight like this, using a weapon and things. I can stab people with a knife because of Kuroro, but I can't do all these fancy things you do with me."
She nuzzled her face up against his arm, smiling as she spoke.
"And you've never lost. So you'll keep winning the fights, and I'll keep taking the souls, and eventually we'll be the strongest pair in Death City, just the way you want."
"Business before pleasure, my dear. That is how these things ought to be done."
They were moving away from the crowds now, out towards a more ruined section of the area. Mukuro slowed his pace, eyes sharpening as he surveyed their surroundings.
She sighed, stumbling for a few steps before regaining her footing. It was almost time to fight, she reminded herself; then Mukuro would pick her up and use her to eviscerate a monster, which meant she'd have fun and stop getting sand into her shoes. It was a decent compromise.
"Can we try to cut the head off today? I want to see how fast we can finish it, and heads are a bit easier than cutting out a heart."
"Well, I suppose we can try to gut it instead, and save the head for a bigger one."
She glanced down at his hand, turning a devilishly sweet smile up to him as she put her arms up behind her head. It was a rare pose for her, but it was one of the most obvious signs that she was intentionally being a little scamp.
"Are you sure? I'm perfectly capable of walking on my own, after all."

"Shall I slow down for you, princess?"

He knew why she was asking, but he had no plans of indulging her.

Mukuro, in the meantime, was on the look out. He wanted to hunt. He had missed it.

A gentle reminder, if for anything else.

It would not do if he was the only one, right?

Reaching down, she tried to take his hand, lace her fingers through his.
"We can't get two souls on the same day, anyways. We might as well enjoy it."

Mukuro wasn't looking at her as he spoke, but he did hold his hand out in her direction. An expectant gesture.
