Aerith glanced up from her work, she had currently been going over some forms and checking the DEMISE network for updates, when Roy leaned in against the wood of the door frame. A smile lit up her face at the sight of his smile as she leaned back a bit in her chair.

"I can always make time for you, Roy," she said pleasantly, winking. "What can I do for you?"

Roy hummed, pretending to think for a moment.

"Well, a good friend of mine did mention that eating ice cream in cold weather is supposed to be fun. I was wondering if I could rope someone into trying it out with me."

"Is that right?"

Aerith tilted her head to the side, looking perfectly innocent.

"I suppose I could indulge that. I was just talking to a good friend of mine about ice cream the other day, too. It must be fate."

"And fate really does seem to like us, eh? Might as well indulge."

Roy promptly wandered over and offered his hand with a little flourish.

And Aerith took it with a happy giggle, rising from her chair with overly emphasized dainty grace.

A few more seconds later, and they were out the door, into the cold. The temperature never did bother her when she had good company, though. And Roy was always good company.

Roy, of course, offered his arm the moment they were side by side. It was the gentlemanly thing to do, wasn't it?

"So, how have you been?"

"Much better, now that everyone is back in the city, safe and sound."

She did worry when they went on these big missions, and she wasn't good enough with a sword yet to help.

That made Roy smile. The gesture was a tad rueful.

"It did get pretty crazy both here and in Europe for a while, didn't it?"

It felt nice, being able to spend time with him like this. They had work every day, but in her opinion it wasn't quite the same as being able to get away from the office.

"It's okay, though. It could always be worse."

"I'm more afraid of things getting worse before they get better, but I suppose it can't be avoided."

The exasperation was mostly for show. Roy was more in control than he let on.
