Description: Paine is coming off her Watch shift and runs into a couple of interesting characters.
The weather is frigid and peaceful on the day before the holiday. The height of the snow on the ground made patrolling really easy because everyone was more content to stay inside. There hadn't been another person around for the last hour, and even then, it was just people rushing out of the cold. Quiet nights were a welcome relief if this city usually had surges of activity like Death City had recently been through. Paine was still trying to get the hang of it all. It was still a bit strange, especially this weather.
Heavy leather boots made her footing sure, even though layers of snow obscured ice on the ground. She's only added an impossibly warm leather duster to her normal attire. All that black and metal was offset by her right arm still in a sling.
Paine wasn't usually a workaholic, but there were times when being alone was kinda nice, and working long shifts to fill in the Watch gave her that opportunity on days like this. Now that her shift was over, all she had was her thoughts and the crunch of her boots as she walked back to her apartment in the snow.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of movement. When she turned, she noticed a dark-coloured bird pecking away at something in the snow. It didn't seem to mind the cold weather or notice her approach, so Paine just watched it for a moment.
