[Gai's no stranger to the use of balconies instead of front doors. The scratching noise makes him stop, mid-pushup, and glance to where he knew Kyoumei was. The puppy wasn't making the noise. In fact, the puppy was now wagging its tail and looking over at where the noise was coming from, much as if he wanted to play with it. Gai shook his head, getting up. Kyoumei was nothing like a nin-dog, but he made Kakashi happy, so he earned his keep.

Gai pushed back the curtains and beamed at Nepeta, happily opening the door.]

Come in! Please! It is good to see you again! I had not realized that you were back in the city, but I was out of it for a while and perhaps that is why. You are... Are you doing better?

It's good to see you too. [She paused a bit, considering his question and nodded]

I feel a little bit guilty about leaving...especially considering what happened to Rei but. But she's better, and overall, yea. I'm feeling lots better too.

Come in, [he gestured toward the couches,] take a seat and stay a while! There is no reason to stay out there.

[Not only was it chilly, there was currently a puppy nosing at the door as if contemplating making a bolt for the strange white stuff. Gai reached down and scooped Kyoumei up.]

She was injured in the attacks, I believe. From what I understand there is little that could have been done except also get injured? So perhaps there is no reason to feel guilty for that.

Nepeta looked at Kyoumei with no small degree of amusement. Hey, not all cats and dogs hated each other. Nepeta was a fan of all animals, even if cats won in her book by a landslide. She entered, closing the door behind her and shook herself off a bit.] Whew! The weather really changes super fast here.

[She went to curl up on the couch Gai had indicated, and thought about his words for a moment before nodding] You're purrobably right. [Some part of her still had trouble believing it was Gamzee, but she remembered what he had done to the Black King. For all his chill nature, Gamzee was not one to be trifled with.]

You said you were out? Were you on a mission?
