Save for the occasional fluke, Fakir was always the first one to get out of bed. It was habitual, really, and a holiday wasn't changing that part of his routine.
He was lingering over preparing breakfast, though. It wasn't anything really complicated, but fresh bread rolls sat cooling on the counter, and Fakir was standing over the stove and waiting for a saucepan of milk to heat sufficiently.
On the kitchen table was the wrapped box containing his gift for Ahiru. He... really hadn't been able to decide what to do with it, or how to give it to her. He wasn't the sort of person who gave a lot of gifts, and he wasn't sure how to go about it now.
Ahiru hadn't stirred quite yet, anyway. He wondered if he would have to wake her for breakfast.
