Ah, one minute! [It's still fairly early in the morning, so Mami hasn't had a chance to return to her own apartment yet.] I need to go pick your gift up from my room.

Okay! I'll get everything ready here, then, Mami-san. [She's excited! She can't wait to see Mami's reaction to her gift. She knows she likes what she gave her, so-- that would be good, right? She never was all that good at this gift thing, really, but she's trying.]

[Since Mami's apartment is just next door, she doesn't bother changing; it's just barely a couple of minutes. When she returns, she's holding a small box wrapped in simple silver paper.] Here!

[Unlike Madoka, Mami is... a bit nervous. She wanted to do something special, but not too fancy... and she wanted it to really mean something...]

[Madoka hands over a box that's a bit larger, and takes her own. She wonders what Mami could have gotten her-- she didn't have to, but the fact that she did was pretty touching.] Here's yours, Mami-san.

[Mami takes her gift, setting it down in her lap. She doesn't make a move to open it; instead, she smiles looking down at the box in Madoka's hands, then back up to her friend's face.]

Will you open yours first?

[She's a bit nervous, but thankfully, it doesn't show, outside of a slight shift in her seat after she asks.]

Mm! I don't mind opening mine first, but-- are you sure?

Of course! I can wait a little longer.

[moetier]

Okay. [And-- now that she's sure, Madoka will carefully open her present (she isn't one for making a mess while opening something. There's a big smile on her face as she pulls out the gift Mami gave her.]

Thank you, Mami-san! This is so pretty.

[magicgunworks]

I'm glad you like it! I didn't make the whole thing, but I did do the designs at the ends... [If Madoka is paying any attention to Mami's fidgeting hands, she'll notice a few band-aids wrapped around her fingers.]

... I'm sorry we haven't been spending much time together since the mission. This is why. [It's not a complete lie, but the surprise was a convenient excuse.]

[She picks the scarf up, wrapping it around her neck and admiring everything about it.]

I like it a lot, Mami-san. Thank you. You did a really good job with the designs. [And she's going to be wearing it a lot, just so you know, Mami.]

[Mami is so happy to see that Madoka likes the present, she... kind of forgot about her own.] To be honest, this is the first time I've done something that complicated. I've been able to patch up rips in my clothes and other such things, but something on that level... [She laughs a little.] Even I'm surprised it came out like that.
