Description: It's the most magical evening of the year! Though Rhode isn't expecting anything as grand as her Victorian holidays, her partner has been planning quite the Christmas surprise for her...
"There, it's perfect!"
Rhode chirped happily at the kitten in her lap, carefully adjusting the bow she had just finished tying onto her collar.
"Now we match. A very handsome lady-cat and a very adorable me."
She lifted the cat up to give it a little kiss, still handling her a bit gingerly from lack of experience. Holly was a very tolerant kitten, thankfully, and didn't protest being dealt with as though she was made of glass. Instead, she stretched out as she was set back on Rhode's lap, shaking her head until the bow sitting at the back of her neck was positioned in a more bearable spot.
Rhode glanced toward the door as her cat situated herself, letting out a quiet sigh. She wasn't very anxious about her Meister's mysterious orders: Wear your best, bring Holly. It was Christmas Eve, after all. He probably had a nice dinner planned for them all, a surprise that they would both enjoy, something to make the holiday a little special. The setup wasn't terribly elaborate, so she didn't have a reason to suspect more. Somewhere, perhaps, her Family would be doing the same thing...
This wasn't the time to think about home, though. She would have all the time in the world to miss her Family later. Christmas came once a year, and she was going to enjoy every second she had to spend with her partner while it lasted. She'd put so much work into it, after all. The major dilemma now was whether she should give him his gifts tonight, or wait until morning.
She had brought them out, just in case: four little boxes sitting on the coffee table, wrapped delicately and tied up with little bows. She'd spent ages picking them (and making some), but learning how to wrap the gifts had been more challenging than she would have liked to admit. Leaving them in a sloppy state, however, would have been unacceptable. She had done it again and again, until it was as perfect as the photographs in magazines. Holly seemed to appreciate them for a different reason, though, jumping over to try and pull the ribbon out of place with her sharp little teeth. Rhode lunged to scoop her up before any damage could be done, holding her up high as she inspected the ribbon carefully.
"That's not for you to eat, even if you are just a baby cat," she chided. "That's for Mukuro. It's got to be just right, and that means it can't have marks from your teeth on it."
