Keroro, being much too short to properly shepherd people (causing traffic jams when people had to stop and look down to see him), had climbed onto a nearby stone bench. He turned when the woman ran up, before looking at Eve, "I will come too, de arimasu! But before that: everyone keep moving in a nice orderly fashion, I need to go save somebody now, de arimasu!"

Eve knew very well that the first rule of thumb regarding going into burning building's to save people was 'don't do it'.

But the firemen weren't here, and the longer they waited, the more dangerous it was for the girl left behind.

Still, she wasn't about to let Keroro take any unnecessary risks.

"You might want to transform. I can move faster that way." And then he won't end up inhaling smoke.

"I-I understand, de arimasu!"

Focusing as Eve had taught him, he felt his body change to the round shape he honestly never thought he would be. The Kero-ball dropped to the floor and rolled before stopping, "All done, de arimasu!"

...that happened faster than she expected. She reached down to pick him up, feeling a connection between them occur when she held him.

She paused. It was...similar to that time with Xiao Qiao, but different at the same time. It wasn't something she knew how to put into words, however, and they had no time.

"Let's go." And with that, she entered the burning building. She was right, she could feel herself moving faster with the boost afforded to her by their resonation, the lower floors weren't as badly affected, and the smoke was mostly floating towards the higher floors. Unfortunately, that was exactly where they were headed.

And then it occurred to her that she...had no idea what Keroro's Weapon form can do.

"Keroro?"

Having never resonated before, Keroro didn't have anything to compare the current connection with Eve to. Although it felt...right, somehow. Maybe this was how God Gundam felt when Domon drove it. If God Gundam could actually feel, that is.

The smoke was rising...but then again, smoke always rose, didn't it? Hopefully if the girl was really little, she'd be closer to the ground and therefore have less of a danger of smoke inhalation.

"Kero? What is it, Eve-dono? Do you see her?"

"What..." And then she broke into a cough. The smoke was denser higher up, but it was still there.

She tucked Keroro under one arm, tearing a strip of cloth from the hem of her dress to tie around her mouth and nose. She...really should have thought of this before, when she could still find water to wet the cloth first.

Faintly, she remembered reading somewhere that partners who were resonating could speak to each other via their minds.

She reached out for that connection between them a little tentatively.

Keroro? Can you hear me?

He could. And he was freaking out.

Kerooo! Eve-dono! I can hear your voice in my head! Is this ESP? You had ESP and you never told me, de arimasu?!

It's a resonation thing, I think. I don't have ESP.

Up the stairs, jumping over the handrail when she knew she would land on the floor.

What does a Keron Ball do?

What? Why not, de arimasu!? I-I mean...Did I think that out loud? Ignore that, de arimasu!

Stupid thoughts!

Just press a button, de arimasu! All of the buttons are useful buttons, de arimasu!

Except they're not anymore.

More running, more stairs. Duly ignored Keroro.

All of them?

She spared a look at the Weapon, the experimentally pressed one of the buttons.

A loud, obnoxious screech filled the smoky hallways when she pressed the button. Which puzzles Keroro, because he didn't remember there ever being such a button.

Kero? Eve-dono, what did you do, de arimasu?

She almost dropped him when the screeching started. Luckily, she hadn't, though she was going to be...holding him as far away from her person as was possible. Which, being only thirteen and thus having rather short arms, wasn't really that far.

I only pressed a button!

Just pressed a button, huh.

If Keroro could sit down, close his eyes, and adopt his favourite 'thinking pose', he definitely would have. He endured the screeching for a few moments, before thinking frankly, That sound....is so annoying, de arimasu.

He says it with a definite undertone of 'Eve-dono. Do something about this, de arimasu.'

...what was she supposed to do about it?

She thought about it, all the while still moving through the burning building, heading for the last known location fo their target.

She tried shaking the Keron Ball a little.

When the shaking started, Keroro immediately tried to get her to stop, Eve-dono! You're making me dizzy, de arimasu.

Sorry.

Maybe pressing another button will help...? Or would it make it worse?

She was going to think on this for a bit as they move through the mall. It wasn't that hard to tune the sound out.
