Entertainment / Red Light District

Shibusen's Entertainment and Red Light district was, as Tsukuyo expected, more wholesome than the Yoshiwara. It was a given, being that there was a school located in the middle of the city and there were children stuck in there with them. Still, the occasional neon sign beckoning the customer to shadier and seedier environs within gave her a small feeling of comfort as she walked around in a leisurely pace.

She was a little early for her shift, she knew. But she figured it wouldn't hurt to be a little early today.

Aqua didn't want to think, not about her own inability to help or the fact that there were people she knew fighting in Europe. And she thought, maybe if she were too busy trying to ignore the things that were embarrassing in the Red Light District (read: everything) while simultaneously keeping an eye out for trouble she wouldn't have to.

She's already been inside a bar or two and already talked to some of the "residents" in the district. It was interesting to note that none of them had the lifeless, dead eyes that she used to see in almost everyone of the girls in Yoshiwara. Most of them invited her to come and see them more often when they heard of where she was from and she promised to do so.

Stepping out of the strip club for some air, she catches a glimpse of a faintly familiar blue-haired girl. Ah, Takasugi's girl she remembers, thinking back when she saw them together during the festival looking, for all the world to seem it, cozy and comfortable.

So her shift was located here? Interesting, Tsukuyo noted as she stepped away from the club and aimed her walk to intersect with Aqua's path.

In some ways, Aqua had gotten used to patrolling this area even if she never quite managed to stop sticking out.

Part of it was her strange hair colour, but mostly it was the almost single-minded way she studiously avoided noticing anything that would make her blush. It made her stand straighter and more tensely than usual, making it obvious that if given the choice she would rather not be here.

At least she had been right: it was easy not to think when she was here.

She hadn't noticed the woman heading for her yet.

It was painfully obvious that she was uncomfortable, Tsukuyo noticed. In fact, it was her tenseness that got noticed more than the blue hair. Or on how pretty she was (a rather dangerous thought in these types of places when one couldn't defend themselves, or was distracted).

She continued walking towards the girl. But just as they were about to bump into each other head-on Tsukuyo deftly stepped aside.

"You'll bump into someone that way."

Overtime fewer and fewer people came up to her to proposition her (not unless they were drunk) as they had when she first started working here. Despite how she may look, she could defend herself and it didn't hurt that occasionally Genesis would show up at random times as well. (Though, for the record, it completely eludes her still why these things were happening in the first place or why it stopped.)

"Ah, I'm sorry." She shot the woman across from her a sheepish, apologetic look. "I guess I was distracted..."

Really, what was wrong with her today...?

Tsukuyo shook her head. "Don't be. Sorry and distracted, that is." She motioned around her. "This place can eat you alive if you let it."

She didn't question Aqua's ability to fight. The girl wouldn't have joined the Watch if she didn't know how to. She was just... concerned with her ability to cope with her surroundings. Though there was no clear and present danger hovering around them, it was still dangerous to wander with one's guard down.

"...I know." And she does it's just that she was really out of her element here.

She gave the other woman a curious look.

"You're a guest, right?" She certainly didn't look like one of those people who were born here. It was rather easy to tell the two apart if you knew what to look for.

"Of this city? Yes." Tsukuyo nodded. "I just wanted to see this place's pleasure district before heading to my patrol shift."

She motioned towards where Aqua was headed. "I hope I'm not disturbing your route. If you don't mind me walking with your for a while?"

So this woman was in the Watch as well...?

She shook her head, "Not at all." She certainly wouldn't have willingly spent her free time here of all places, but she wasn't going to judge.

"I'm Aqua by the way, what's your name?"

"Tsukuyo."

She fell in step beside the girl. "I've only arrived a week or so ago, so I am getting myself acquainted with the City."

"You are of the Watch as well, I believe?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you." A week or so, that meant Tsukuyo had come in with the last batch of arrivals.

"I am." She tilted her head curiously, "So are you, right? Which area were you assigned?"

Tsukuyo nodded. "Outer Quarter, Zone 1 and 4. I believe you know one of my zone leaders, Takasugi Shinsuke."

[blue_wayfinder]

"I do. But..." She gave Tsukuyo a strange look, "How did you know?" She was certain they'd never met before.

She returns the strange look with one without guile. "Mm? I saw you two together at the festival some days ago." Getting cozy with each other. She added in her head.

For a moment all she could do was stare at the older woman. She...saw them?

She quickly looked away, telling herself not to blush because Tsukuyo probably saw them when they were just walking around. Absolutely.

"I-I see."
