Mess hall/Kitchens soul_mods September 20 2011, 04:16:21 UTC

[Sohki's sitting there in calm amusement while he observing the tiny soul wavelengths as they flutter to and fro. From what he'd heard, they were mechanical devices brought to life, and he found it absolutely fascinating.

That's why he's nursing the tea in his hand. Trust the kirin to come to battle prepared. How could one enter battle without having a full range of tea leaves flavours on hand?]

Brock wandered through the mess hall, heading towards the kitchens to see if there was something he could do to help. At least, that's what he told himself. In reality, he was concerned about the battle. He was well aware of the things that could go wrong. Heading to the kitchen was just a way of centering himself.

As he wandered between the many tables, he spotted a familiar head. Breaking into a smile, he changed the direction of his stride. "Sohki, I didn't realise you were here as well," he said warmly in greeting.

The moment that Brock entered the mess hall, was the moment that Sohki caught the other's scent on the air. It had been quite some time since he'd 'seen' the young Weapon, he thought while quietly observing the other.

"Mmm well there's no show without punch, right?" Sohki said in reply to the warm greeting.

Brock let out a chuckle at Sohki's response. He hadn't had a chance to spend a lot of time with Sohki, but the few times they had run into each other, he had enjoyed the older man's company. He found Sohki had a relaxing presence, but he was sure that, if ever angered, Sohki would be a formidable opponent.

"May I?" he gestured to the seat opposite the kirin, and the tea pot on the table, not wanting to intrude if Sohki was waiting for someone.

Sohki simply smiled pleasantly at the chuckle. He still didn't care much either way when it came to the war, but remaining in Death City for too long got far too boring for the kirin. While he couldn't stretch his legs like he typically would, this was the next best option.

"Of course," Sohki said while gesturing to the seat opposite him. "Tea is always far more enjoyable with a companion."

Brock gave Sohki a wide grin as he pulled back a chair opposite the kirin and sat. "So true," he answered, as he poured himself a cup. "Top up?" he asked the meister, holding up the pot.

It was nice to be sitting here with someone Brock knew, albeit not so well. He'd only found out Ash had disappeared shortly before they arrived here. He was assured that Ash had gone back home, given that all his belongings had also disappeared. Brock was partly relieved, and partly worries about the younger boy. After everything Ash had been through...how would he be, back home?

It also meant that now Brock was the only one left from his world here. It was a sobering thought.

"Sohki...are you the only one from your world here?"

He sat there quietly as Brock joined him. The flickers in the young human's soul was interesting. While the young Weapon could hide his expression well behind his mask, the kirin could see what was hidden beneath. Obviously he had hit a nerve with that, but he would speak nothing of it. No, he would see if the young Weapon would tell him.

"Yes and no," Sohki murmured before taking another sip of his tea. "There is one from my world, but there are also many and none," he mysteriously added after savouring his tea.

Brock had momentarily forgotten how confusing some of Sohki's answers could be. Although, they were certainly good for making you think. Brock decided to start with the easy part of the answer.

"Another? Did you know them before you were brought here?" he asked, curious. He'd been surprised by how many people from the same world seemed to know each other, despite there being an entire world of people for BREW to choose from, and only a small number being pulled.

[ and trust this shinobi to find where the best teas are being kept. although that had not been his intention upon entering the mess hall. he was checking on the foods they had, although he was not altogether hungry, when he spotted Sohki seated at one of the tables. he approached quietly, nodding at the kirin. ]

Sohki. I trust you have brought plenty of tea?

[Sohki's quietly sitting there enjoying his tea even if he caught the scent of the other on the air. Hmm it has been quite some time since he'd last spoken to the young ninja.]

[When he's addressed, he flashes Itachi a cheerful smile.]

Does a lion hunt without his mane? [There's a chuckle tinging his tone as he speaks.] You're more than welcome to share my pot.

Thank you.

[ he had been hoping for such a response, taking a seat across from the other blind man. pouring himself his own cup of tea from the pot, he fixed his eyes as best he could on Sohki. ]

What do you think of this place?

[He sips at his tea while Itachi sits down. Savouring the flavour, he ponders over the fighter's question.]

I suppose that it would be lovely if not for the Kishin Eggs. [It wasn't entirely what Itachi was meaning, he knew.] Human cities and settlements have never been an ideal location for me, however.

[The best thing about it were the desserts and teas.]

The humans here do seem rather attached to it though, wouldn't you think?

[ his expression vacant as ever, he took a small sip before answering;

It is common for them, is it not? To become so invested in the places they reside and protect.

After talking with Sohki, Brock continued through to the kitchen. He was itching to cook something to calm his nerves before heading to the hospital. Also, he hoped everyone would benefit from his cooking. Surveying the large storeroom, he concluded a hearty stew was in order, and pulled out all the ingredients he needed to make a large vat of Brock's lazy boy no-chew stew.

He began peeling and chopping the vegetables, humming cheerfully to himself.

[Trust Cross to choose the city that prefers meat to most other food. Obviously, there are other options and she has access to the kitchen, herself, right? (Something she'll have to ask someone soon, lest she starve!) But right now, she figures maybe she can subsist on chocolate and other things she probably shouldn't be eating.

With that in mind, she's sitting alone at a table with a slice of cake and a cup of black coffee with steam rising from it laid out before her. She's not giving off any vibes that company would be unwelcome, so take a seat and gab a little.]
