Clare wasn't much of a sweater buying person. She had several, and she wore them, but they were always gifts from relatives... handmade gifts. So it was wrong to her to buy a sweater. Her choices were sweatshirts and hoodies if she's buying something for herself. The clothing choices here ranged from perfectly mundane to just shy of mundane. Just that little bit of stylization she saw here but wasn't as prevalent at home.
They were kind of cool.
So she had a small pile of nice looking warm things when she spotted Bakura, and she jumped to the most logical conclusion she could given his selection. "Shopping for Christmas gifts?" Cause... they didn't seem like the sorts of things a teenage boy would buy for himself.

"Oh! Um," Clare put her foot in her mouth again, she should stop doing that, "Well... how many shirts are you wearing?" That was the first and most important detail to a winter wardrobe. Which is why she needed some more shirts to her name. It wasn't very flattering, but it was effective.
"Not used to the cold?" Clare glanced through sweaters looking to see if she can find something warmer for Bakura. The past few years the lack of cold was bothering her at home. It was nice to have a proper winter again... even if it was odd to have it here.

Clare took the time to check out the layers Bakura was wearing. Not at all being intimidated or scared like she usually was with a boy. Which was a little weird and she'd worry about that later, "Your shirts are too thin. You either need another layer, or for each of these to be thicker winter wear. Like..." Clare clutched her selection to her chest as she searched the racks finding a single color green knit sweater. It was an over the head thing, but twice as thick as the one Bakura was wearing.
"This should be better. I know a thing or two about winter clothing, even if it was spring for me too," Clare paused, looking a little sheepish, "...although it snowed during spring break. Even if winter wasn't all that cold this past year." Which given the calender here was in two years from now. Clare's not going to bring that up.

Bakura was almost the least intimidating boy Clare knew, he was slightly edged out by Wesley (in spite of Clare's mortifying memory giving Wesley a hickey). Clare saw the look and quickly figured out her blunder. Quickly scouring the rack again and pulling out a blue sweater, just as thick, but with big shiny buttons down the front. "Better?"
"We get snow in Canada pretty regularly. Not nearly as much as a lot of the world thinks, but it is just as likely to happen most months," A few transfer students over the years had made cracks about Canada not being covered in snow. At least in Declan's case it was due to coming to Canada mostly for skiing when he lived in New York. "Tokyo is a decent way further south, isn't it?"

Clare beamed that she was able to help. She liked to be useful in little ways, helping, listening, being able to point out mistakes in peoples math or giving revisions and rewrites to peoples English... if they wanted on those last two.
"I live closer to the border, so it isn't too close to the arctic circle, but its still much more north in the temperate zone," Clare commented, working out the geography with a map inside her head. Just... she was good at book stuff. "The amount of urban structure does cause for it to get hotter, but not so much that we don't have winter. Although global warming is definitely having an impact on weather patterns..." Clare paused, he probably didn't care about that. She'll just cough and look for a new topic now... coming up short.

"Simple physics," that was a lie, it wasn't exactly simple. But... it was physics, "building materials affect the area causing the Urban Heat Island effect."
"Oh, that would work for you," Clare nodded in approval of what he paused on. Neck meant he'd probably be able to get it over his hair (how did hair like that work anyway), and it was a nice unobtrusive cute color scheme.
