Time: December 10th, Evening, a few hours after an announcement has been made to the entire Watch that Ran Fan hasn't been seen since the 7th.
Description: There really isn't any reason to worry about where Ran Fan is or to look for her. She's just in her apartment. ...Waiting. ...For something that isn't going to happen any time soon...
86 days. Nearly three months. For most people it felt much shorter than it sounded.
For Ran Fan, though, it felt like she had been alone for ages. She had always served her clan. She didn't know anything outside of what was expected of her as a guardian because there was no need to learn it. She had sworn to always fulfill her duty. That meant if she wasn't with him, she wasn't doing her job, right?
She wasn't doing her job...
For weeks she had been pushing this to the back of her mind, using things like going on missions and working for the Watch to justify that this was not true. However, she had finally lost the battle with herself and the thought had taken root. She couldn't keep fooling herself. Nothing she was doing here was actually part of her duty.
What, then, was she supposed to do? Searching for him would yield no results and she had never been told what to do were this to happen. Such a situation at home would only be regarded as failure. Ran Fan couldn't allow that. The last thing she wanted to do was displease him. In that case, she was supposed to await his orders. Yes, that was right... She just needed to know what he wanted her to do.
Ran Fan now sat on the floor of her apartment at attention with her leg folded underneath her. Her hands rested on her lap. She was dressed in her uniform apart from her mask, though this was because she was occupied with other thoughts. It might have been reasonable were it not for the fact that she had been like this for over two days, rarely allowing herself to move lest she miss something.
She wasn't hearing anything. Why wasn't she hearing anything? She needed to find him. ...But that wasn't possible. What was she supposed to do if she wasn't even capable of that much? This was not acceptable to her family or to him. She needed to know what he wanted her to do now. That would fix all of this. That was how it always worked. So why wasn't he giving her orders?
...What had she done wrong...?
No, Ran Fan could not let herself get this distracted. She had to be ready for whatever he needed. That was her duty. All she had to do was wait for his orders.
