Description: Team Three Aliens and a Clone head to Romania to take care of a fire breathing dragon.
The Eastern Carpathian Mountains of Romania were mostly undeveloped, with miles of forest providing a home to thousands of animals and plants and at least one kishin. It would have been harder to track the beast in this area if it didn’t routinely leave swaths of scorched earth and trees in its wake, leading from one village to another and then back up into the mountains. The night before it had decimated an old church, a local landmark from what they understood, which was still smoldering. The plume of black smoke served as a good marker for them as they followed the dragon’s westward path.
There were spots of snow on the ground here and there, much of it melted by warmer temperatures and, more recently, fire. It was colder here than in Death City, and even if the nearby crater lake hadn’t frozen solid yet, it was going to get uncomfortable before long. The terrain wasn’t so bad, but the incline was slowly getting steeper the farther they walked. The trail might wind on for miles, and Selendis hoped the kishin would prove predictable and come out to try and kill them. Maybe she and Tassadar were only One Star Meisters, but their souls had to be at least somewhat appetizing.
It wasn’t until they reached a split in the trail that they stopped. Were there two of them, or had the monster retraced its steps? Selendis turned to Tassadar - if he could track and evade the Queen of Blades on her home turf, picking the right path shouldn’t be a problem.
“Which trail is correct?” She shifted her posture slightly, subtly checking that Karkat was still close to her. It would be awhile before the cold got to her, but she wasn’t so certain about him, or even Nataku. They were either going to get too cold, or get burned by a dragon, by the looks of it.
