Fuck L's intuition. He knew it. That techno is awful; it claws at the inside of his head, and his hands fly to his ears to attempt to block it out. But the bass still pounds against the inside of his chest. L dives for the train just to get away from Justin and his terrible taste.
He doesn't hear his communicator beep. He can't, but he notices several other people looking at theirs. Rather than take out his own, he leans over to look at the one in the lap of the person sitting in front of him so he can keep his hands over his ears ( ... )

"I... yes. I'm new," he snapped, in a tone that was probably a good degree harsher than he intended it to be. A perceptive person could probably pick up on his uneasiness, and it was likely that Auron could, especially since he'd initially noticed L's reaction to the pounding techno.

"You know... if that's true... back home, I didn't have much longer to live. So if I did return to the last thing I remembered, I would probably stop existing... so maybe being here isn't the worst thing that could happen."
He demonstrated some interest in Auron's mention of the Agency, but... it was early, to start planning a career here. He was still trying to get used to thinking of it as a second chance.
