[Plenty of room up here in the stands. The place is open to Death City's residents as well, but Guests may very well run into people they recognize!]

[Karkat knows a few of the fighters, and this fight club deal sounds like a pretty good excuse to take a break and watch people beat the shit out of each other.

so he's just gonna plop down right next to whoever else is here and chill with some snacks.]

[Fabiola kind of just... heard about this in passing, and damned if she's not hella interested in picking up a few new moves from people. So she's sitting there, staring raptly into the ring as if she can learn everything just by watching. Considering how she learned Capoeira, it's not a complete impossibility.]

[cue Karkat, munching nachos. this is gonna be GOOD.]

I didn't think this was your kind of thing.

It is not- not exactly. While I am not one to condone violence for the sake of violence, I have nothing against using the opportunity presented to... study.

[She's even got a teeny, tiny notepad in her lap, pencil twirling between her fingers. She looks over and blinks at his nachos, and then frowns a little.]

I see that you are treating it as nothing more than a spectator sport, however.

Humans beating themselves bloody IS a spectator sport! I mean... what's even the point of a notepad? In the time it takes you to write something down, you'll miss three other techniques. It's smarter to keep your eyes on them.

I am doing both, thank you.

[Though she did miss something in the time she took to stare at him, so she turns her attention back to the ring, nose scrunching in distaste.]

Besides, I will not learn anything properly until I try it myself.

[Karkat isn't willing to take his attention off the action, but he does sort of give her the side-eye.]

You'd be better off sparring with these idiots during morning training, if you came here to pick up moves. This is just a bunch of people blowing off steam, because this damn city swings between thinkpan-numbing boredom and nonstop violence with almost no in-between.

I do that as well. However you will find that not everything one can learn can be taught with formal training. [She makes a vague motion at the ring with her pencil, eyes narrowing and head tilting to follow a motion someone's going through.] Things like this... I have learned that sometimes, what is considered 'fair' is not what you will face in actual combat.

What are you doing, standing on ceremony for me or something? I'm not some pearl-clutching champion of manners here, I'm a damn troll. We practically invented fighting dirty.

[and then he falls silent briefly to appreciate someone getting their ass handed to them. and crunches more nachos.]

Nice.

I do not understand what you mean by 'standing on ceremony', however if you understand what I mean, then you must understand why I am here, yes?

[She does the same, critically, and without blinking, murmurs-]

...wasted movement. That entire second to last bit was completely superfluous.

Yeah, yeah, although I still think training would be more effective than taking notes from some of these neanderthals.

[after the move, and her remark, he mutters back:]

It wouldn't have been, if he'd followed through. I don't think she would've had a chance to block at all with the momentum he had going.

It helps in its own way. Where do you think I will refine what I learn?

[She pauses, considers, and then gives her head a slight nod.]

You have a point, I suppose. Had he been able to follow through however, it would have meant she executed that incorrectly to begin with. She was compensating for hesitating.

What the hell ever. Sometimes you have to jump on advantages when you see them.

[and a pause. wow, he just sounded so much like Vriska for a second there.]

I suppose so. You should try not to be so rash though- it might not work out in your favor in the long run.

[She leans back a little and chances another glance at him.]

Why would you even get nachos for something like this?

[and he looks back at her, briefly.]

Because most people just came out here to watch people get hurt, not to take notes on the finer points of shattering a sniff node. Hell, if I were older or thought I could get away with it, I'd have a beer in this hand.

[he waves his free hand.]
