[OPEN to Shibusen, Watch Folks]

Jun 18, 2011 23:08

Characters: Roy Mustang, members of the Watch, and anyone from Shibusen who wishes to drop in~
Location: Death City's Office for General Security
Rating: G(?)
Time: November 22: 12 PM to midnight, and perhaps a bit before or after that period.
Description:

[Both meetings start on time, inside the meeting room in the DOGS office. There's a projector for pictures and the like; Roy uses it liberally.]

After the witch raid on November 1, Sarah Kerrigan managed to pursue our enemies and determine their route of escape. As all of you are now aware, I was out of the city for almost two weeks in her company, in an attempt to pick up the trail. It led us to the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

[There's a map, and a picture of the location itself, taken from a distance.]

This is the witch base in Horseshoe Bend, a semi-defensible area within the Canyon. Those of you who took part in the operation in Michigan will note that the structure is almost identical to the place we raided back then. A survey of the place led us to the conclusion that the place is important to our opponents. As such, we will need to take it down in order to cripple their war efforts.

[The slide following that has a tactical map of the base from a bird's eye point of view, with arrows, markers, and the like.]

We're dealing with a multi-level structure which Kerrigan and I divided into four wings, corresponding to the four directions. The base's offensive power is about as strong as it is large, but standard fare: an army of kishin eggs, and a handful of witches to keep them in line. The one weakness of the place, however, is its position: there's a bottleneck right here -- [He uses a pointer to encircle the area in question] -- before it opens up into the cul-de-sac where the base is located. We'll need to set up camp from a safe distance, and assemble an assault team to conduct a frontal attack on the base. Artillery teams should be positioned at the entrance of the bottle neck to provide cover fire, and protect both our camp and the medics that will be stationed there.

The majority of our firepower will go to this direct assault, but it is ultimately a diversion. We need to draw most of the base's defenders out of the base for the next phase of the battle: infiltration.

[The next slide has a sketch of the interior, with notes. There's also a photograph on the side, taken from a distance: it appears to be a witch, one colder and older than most of the others that you may have seen on the field before.]

While our boys on the front line are keeping the witches busy, about four bomb squads accompanied by eight or more strike teams will sneak into the base. The bomb squads have one objective: plant charges in the locations I've marked on screen. The strike teams, on the other hand, have two roles: stir things up for the remaining enemy forces to draw attention away from the bomb squads, and seek out the witch leader of Horseshoe Bend. We want to capture her alive, in the hopes of interrogating her for information on our enemies.

Once our teams in the interior have accomplished their objectives, we're all pulling out and heading home. The longest we can sustain an attack of this magnitude would be about twelve to fifteen hours. Ideally, we're going to have to try and finish up everything well before that period.

[He shuts the projector down, and gestures for the clerk on duty at the time to turn on the lights.]

As members of the Watch, we have an obligation to protect the city from any and all threats. As guests of Shibusen and participants in their war, we have an obligation to assist Shibusen in destroying their enemies. Active participation in the mission or taking upon a supporting role that will make it happen are both means through which we can fulfill both of these obligations.

I'll need a role call now, on who plans on staying, and who plans on going - we need men at home just as much as we'll need people on the field. Questions and comments are also more than welcome.

ooc notes
+ Prose and action are both fine by me; just use whatever you're comfortable with. ♥
+ Sign ups for the mission that's being discussed are still going on, of course. Hit it up now if you haven't yet!
+ You're free to handwave the presence of your muse at the meeting - this log is more for anyone who wants to hit Roy up personally, lob IC questions regarding the mission, or mingle. Just let me know through plurk, AIM or LJ PM if you want me to assume that your pups showed up.
+ For the mingling thread: make sure to specify which meeting you were at in the subject (first meeting - 12 to 6 PM, or second meeting from 6 PM to midnight) so that folks will know if they can tap you or not. XD
+ For poking Roy: let me know in the subject line when your muse is poking him~
