(
It starts with self-esteem apparently. )
It wasn't easy for the redhead to accept, either. It never was. In the end, she was still just a duck. Pretending to be a girl. Borrowing the form of Princess Tutu.
And most people didn't know the truth. Not at home and not here.
Nonetheless, she was as attentive as she could manage (even if she was quite easily distracted on a normal basis), and listened as Seimei explain the day's subject. A bubble of unease slowly rose up within her.
Assert authority? But she wasn't good at that! Fakir was good at that kind of thing. She'd just end up flailing or something!
Once he was finished speaking, she raised a hand uncertainly. ]
U--Uhm! Whatifwe'veneverhadto--whatifwe'renotgoodat--!
[ She couldn't seem to get a proper thought out without sputtering. ]

[Seimei leaned in, a bit uncomfortably close.]
If you falter, you'll get hurt.

[ Being far too easily excitable by nature, she floundered back as he came forward. ]

Jutting her bottom lip out in concentration, she pulled up both arms with fisted hands to cross in front of her. ]
Like... like this?

Um---back up a little?

Asserting herself would mean... not asking, right? Her brows furrowed. ]
...Telling.

O--Out. Of my space. Move away.

[He moves back a bit.]
Remember, for anyone to move into your space, they must have your permission to do so. So do not feel as if you are offending them - they are the ones in the wrong.
Next time, I want you to be more confident. Certain. You deserve to be respected, as does your personal space. You practice that. If you're still having difficulty, Ahiru, you may contact me at any time.

So--all I have to do is say something like that?
[ It seemed easy enough. It was the reassurance in herself that she needed to work on.
Nonetheless, she nodded. ]
Okay. I'll be sure to practice!
[ Then, a small smile curled the corner of her lips. ]
Thanks for taking the time to do this.

A broken weapon will do nothing for their meister. A broken meister cannot hold and guide his weapon.

But could she really accept that? Putting others first was... well, it was what she did. Putting herself first... she never really thought about that before. From the start, even, her driving force had been to see the prince smile again. And then to fully return his heart...
Here in Death City, would she really put Fakir in danger if she put others before herself?
The thought was uncomfortable. She didn't want to leave her partner at a loss or cause him to get hurt. ]
...I'll think about what you said.
[ What conclusion she might come to, she wasn't sure. ]

There's a delicate balance here. But you are not disposable, or replaceable. At least, you should not consider yourself as such. Consider that.
