"This is supposed to be a party." He reached over and grabbed something off Date's plate and nibbled on it before pushing over one of the cups over. "No fun if you just sit there and eat."

"I haven't eaten dinner yet," he replied simply, once he had that hot dog finished up. "I might as well eat it now since there's food here."

"You can look happier while you're doing it."

To the comment, the Meister only gave his partner a very pointed look as he returned bluntly. "How the heck can I be happy when we're supposed to be on duty?" Seriously. Date had been busy with his Watch mission with Ieyasu earlier in the day and hadn't had time to do his work as Zone Leader - he had intended to patrol his area once he picked up Dante, and then this happened instead.

"We can go after. Besides, it's not like our guys are useless." He chews on his latest grab from Date's plate. "Anyway you and Vergil are..." Dante's not sure of what word to use, everything he thinks of sounds weird in relation to his brother. "...should hang out more."

"You'll be claiming you're tired by the time this is done," the samurai returned pointedly as he started chewing on a spoon of vegetables. "As for Vergil, he's got his woman around to accompany him." But still, it would be nice to get to talk to Vergil if the other could manage the time for it.

"I swear not tonight?" He wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyway or at least he got completely smashed.
Dante pauses in his filching of food to stare at Date. "...his woman..." It's only momentary and he resumes his previous actions.
With his mouth full of food he adds. "Bros before hos. The rule between guys where you don't ditch your friends for a chick." He was pretty sure it was a universal constant in life even back in the caveman era, but it didn't hurt to elaborate.

Trying not to sigh at that thought, Date helped himself to another bit of vegetables as he winced at the sight of Dante talking to him through a mouthful of food. "At least chew down your food first before speaking, you're spitting at me."

So much nagging.

"I suppose," he returned mildly before promptly munching into the potato and chewing on it.

"Something wrong?" He leaned in to examine Date's face, he didn't look sick. Dante was also pretty sure that nothing upsetting had happened lately.
Reply
"Nothing in particular," came the response, and then he started to chew on his hot dog this time round.
