Characters: sparklingmanly & dai_mon_dai Location: Shibusen City Park Rating: PG-13 Time: November 8th, afternoon. Description: Armstrong and Masaru go on their second Watch mission!
[Seeing Chika all grown up... and hearing so much about what happened after he was taken by BREW... it was a lot of take in. But going out and getting into a brawl was JUST what he needed. Unlike most times the two go out, Masaru doesn't talk much. No questions or small talk, just a small frown.]
Probably a good idea. [he holds his hand out, ready to catch the gauntlets as soon as they appear.]
[The lack of talk worries Armstrong a little, but he supposes its just Masaru thinking over things. He won't pry, unless its obvious that Masaru needs help - he understands well enough that the teenager needs his space, considering everything.]
Alright. [A nod, and Armstrong just takes a moment before he transforms into his Weapon form, and in a flash of light a pair of gauntlets appear in place of the man, securing themselves well on Masaru's own hands.]
[The flash of pink only makes him think of Chika more, and that slight worry is obvious in their resonance. But Masaru only smiles, hopping from foot to foot for a moment before running off into the park to find their target.
No matter what's happening to him, Masaru can always lose himself in battle, his instincts for it almost scary for one so young and untrained.]
[Armstrong feels the worry that Masaru is holding inside himself the moment their resosance begins, and it is worrying how quickly Masaru can put it aside as the battle starts to heat up. Its something that's perhaps a common trait in a soldier - and a soldier is the last thing Armstrong wants his partner to be. He was only still so young, after all.]
I was told that it likes to hide in dark areas. Perhaps we should start from there.
[He nods back, booking to the running/jogging path he remembers. It's just a matter of following it at this point. Before long they approuch a small decorative stone arch bridge with a pretty little creek running under it. The arch is just big enough for a squatter or two if they didn't mind getting cozy... or a killer waiting for passers by
Masaru, using more foresight then normal, keeps his mouth shut as he slowly approaches]
I think I saw a crime show with a hiding spot like this before. All it needs is more bushes to hide the bodies.
[Armstrong makes sure to keep resoance going well enough as Masaru moves towards their destination, keeping his senses open should anything attempt to ambush them. Better to be safe and sorry and all that jazz.]
[A quietly amused sound.] Since this is a kishin we're dealing with, I dobut it would need to worry about bodies. [A pause.] Keep your guard up, if its there it might strike once we're close.
[A vague trill of... dismay and lack of understanding vibrates through their connection: while Masaru has seen plenty of death of beings, the up close death of fellow humans is something he hasn't had to deal with personally yet. Digimon, while their deaths are just as real, went bloodless and fast. Human beings are...squishier.
But at Armstrong's warning all disgust flees and Masaru tilts his head, listening like an attentive dog and slowly moving closer. The noise gets louder, and one bladed claw like hand curls it's way out of the shadow, starting to pull it's owner up onto the bridge.]
There!
[And Masaru dashes forward, not waiting to see the rest of the thing, meaning to hit it hard and fast and NOW]
[Vaguely Armstrong senses the feelings that runs through Masaru through their bond of resonance - for all that he's been through, its still a fact that Masaru was still only a child. He was only fourteen, and even by the standards of Amestris that was young. Edward Elric had been younger when he became a state alchemist, but that was another thing...
Still, he could keep those thoughts for later - now, it was the mission that mattered. Armstrong keeps his own senses on alert as they move, keeping notice for any signs or more noises--
And then Masaru shouts, and Armstrong instantly spots what it was that his Meister saw - he acts at once too, bringing their power up higher so that the fist that swings forward blazes with soul energy as Masaru punches the kishin, strong enough to send the thing flying back and reeling from the force and the pain.]
[The hit is satisfying, and Masaru has no problem jumping back, using one hand on the ground to steady himself. But like hell he was going to let it off easy: while he was hitting it his brain took in all the little details even if it was mostly subconscious. The kishin looked still human enough to make his guts and soul flinch back in disgust. Just made him want to hit it more.
So he does. Or tries to any way, jumping back in after it and going for another punch before it can recuperate. But the damn thing is fast, and seems to be as much blade as flesh and bone-- the gauntlet ends up scraping metal instead of flesh]
[Armstrong makes sure to keep their power constant as the battle starts, knowing well how little control Masaru has over his own powers. Its something he's learned how to handle in the time they've been partners, and by now its almost second nature to him.
After having fought homunculus and people alike Armstrong is hardly so perturbed by the sight of the kishin, although he feels otherwise from Masaru. The teenager gets it over quickly though and so they move in to attack again. Armstrong readies himself - and then winces as the attack misses and he scrapes against the blade instead. It doesn't hurt, not really, but the sudden discomfort was jarring to say the least.]
It's alright. [In the end it doesn't take long for him to recover, and once he's done that Armstrong looks for the kishin again.] Go after the target before it gets away.
Got it. [The damn thing is skittering around like a spider, perhaps looking for a new dark hiding place. But instead of going in for another punch, Masaru reaches into the big baggy pockets of his pants.
Inside is a handful of small (no bigger then a Quarter or so each) stones. He had spend a few minutes each Watch training session hunting a few down each day, and while he lacks Armstrong's control (or...artistic skills) with stone, that didn't mean he couldn't cause a little hell.
He tosses a few of them up, punching most of them before they fall-- effectively making his Weapon a small caliber rock-spike shooting gun. If the speed and blades are making up-close combat hard, well he'll play the distance game. For now.]
[They've been practising with that, of course, and Armstrong knows at once what Masaru is planning to do. Quickly he channels their unified power, putting it out through him and into the pebbles that managed to get punched as they transmute into miniature spikes that fly straight towards the kishin.
With the speed and velocity applied to the projectiles, the kishin gets hit quite a bit, and it registers the pain with a howl. It tries to run even more as soon as it can, knowing that fighting isn't an option at all and hiding would be far better. Hide and flee to live another day rather than battle against something that would most definitely kill it.]

Do we have any clues about where it hides out?

I think I remember seeing a little bridge... thing here once, on one of the running paths. I bet it's dark there all day!

It is a good place to start at the very least. Let us make haste.

Near by, there is a low skittering noise, like blades tapping stone]

[That aside, Armstrong hears that sound alright - and he quickly warns Masaru about it.] Stay still for a moment. I believe I heard something earlier.
