Characters: Princess Aurora and YOUUUU. ♥ Location: Shopping district! Rating: lol..G? Unless someone else uses naughty words!!! Time: Recently and in the afternoon. Description: A random encounter between lovely people.
Esmeralda hadn't been able to stay put for very long since she arrived in Death City. It wasn't that she felt comfortable wandering around a strange city on her own; it just didn't seem like any only place was safer than any other, so the best thing to do was to explore.
And there was so much to explore! She had thought she'd seen a decent amount of what the earth had to offer in her years of travels, but this place was like an entirely different world. That explained why she was so busy paying attention to something high in the sky making loud noises that she didn't even notice Aurora was nearby until she ran smack dab into her.
Aurora was the opposite. She'd seen so little of the world in general that everything was new to her pretty much, and nothing was familiar. Including most of the people. She had turned to look at another display in the window, still minding her own business, still holding a bag or two in one of her hands. She didn't even notice that someone was approaching so close to her.
Not until the two of them crashed and she was literally ripped right out of her own thoughts. "Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed as she stumbled a little but gracefully caught her balance (it's the princess way). "I'm sorry! Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. What about you?" she asked, reaching out to steady the girl. "I don't break that easily."
She mentally chided herself a bit; it didn't seem like anybody nearby was a direct threat to her, but that was no excuse to let her guard down so much. Thankfully, this girl seemed harmless. She wasn't exactly the sort of person Esmeralda was used to seeing on the streets of Paris, but then, very few people around here were.
"Oh, thank you," Aurora murmured as she was steadied a bit. She was fine, though. It was just a little accident. "I'm alright. I was just surprised."
She probably could have been paying attention to her surroundings, anyway. What if someone came out of the blue and kidnapped her? That's how it would work back home. This seemed like a nice, albeit strangely dressed, girl though. Apparently quite strong, too. It still didn't stop Aurora from looking at her quite shyly.
"I'm glad." Nonetheless, Esmeralda took a second to look the other girl over, smiling when she confirmed that she was, in fact, unhurt. "I'm Esmeralda. What's your name?"
"It's very nice to meet you, Esmeralda," Aurora loved meeting people in Death City, but she had been able to spend so little time with girls near her own age! This was kind of exciting, which showed in the little bounce to her curtsy as she introduced herself. "My name is Aurora."
"Were you shopping also? I was just trying to find more things to wear."
"Not really shopping, just exploring. I haven't looked at the shops around here very much."
She shook her head, not at all in denial of or upset by the fact that everything in the stores was so new to her (she was no stranger to feeling out of place, after all). "But," she added, "I wouldn't mind going with you, if you need a friend."
To her, everyone had an interesting way of dressing. "It's better than wandering around alone, right? I could use somebody to show me around and you just seem lonely."
She never had been very good at being careful around strangers when they seemed pleasant.
"Oh, do I?" Aurora faltered a little bit, but she couldn't deny that that was true. Though she frowned some, she smiled as she shrugged her shoulders. "I've never been all by myself before. So far away from home."
And this place was nothing like home, that's for sure. And was home for her a cottage in the woods or a big castle? She wasn't sure.
"They have some very interesting dresses around here, though," she offered.
"That's putting it mildly. If I stood out before, it would be nothing compared to what'd happen if I went back home dressed like that." That might be a good reason to find some clothing here, actually. It would make for a great spectacle, and that usually led to extra tips. "I wonder what it's like? To wear some of those things, I mean."
"People don't normally wear clothes like that where you're from?" Aurora gestured to Esmeralda's dress, but only a little bit so it didn't feel as rude. She really had no idea what was normal or not, though. And everyone came from such strange places.
"There's only one way to find out," She smiled then, and gestured to a shop with clothing in the window.
"Well, it's a little bit fancy, but I usually get noticed for other reasons." She honestly wasn't sure if Aurora -- or anybody else in Death City -- thought she stood out at all, and now seemed like a good time to find out. So far, everyone was treating her as thought they saw medieval gypsy girls roaming the streets every day, but she had no idea if they were just hiding their surprise.
She studied the clothing that Aurora had pointed to. She couldn't imagine how she might look in it for a number of reasons, but one in particular stood out. "Are those really pants made for women?"
"I see. You must come from a place with a lot of people." Aurora smiled a little bit. It was hard for her to understand what exactly Esmeralda was talking about. Her experience with gypsies or even other girls is incredibly limited. At least they're only a century or two off from each other.
She glanced to the display and tilted her head a little. "I have no idea! I couldn't imagine wearing pants."
"Yes, there are a lot of people," she answered with a smile. It wasn't taking much to remind her of her friends at home, not to mention the Parisian crowds she had performed for just days earlier. They were pleasant memories, for the most part, although she hadn't forgotten the less happy ones.
She was glad that Aurora felt the same way about the idea of donning trousers. Come to think of it, there had been other girls wearing similar things, but she hadn't really given them a second thought. "I've heard they're easier to walk in, but still..."
