[Geeze, why is his bed the innermost one?! Spirit eyes the space between his bed and the door absently several times as he tap tap taps busily into his communicator, yawning once in a while. Going to Winry had done him a bunch of good, though, so at least he's no longer a sad redheaded ball of aching.]
[He looks at the door again, and on the way back to his communicator, his eyes pass over Maka. Stays there, and his face softens affectionately. Too tired to register that Maka is actually awake! But when he does, he blinks.]
[At the sound of Papa's voice, Maka looks up from her lap. The truth is, she hasn't gotten much sleep at all. The group in this room was...active for a bunch of injured people. Though, to be honest, she wouldn't have gotten much sleep anyway. She's been sitting and thinking a lot, even when her eyes have been closed.]
Yeah, I'm awake.
[She's surprised it's taken him this long to notice. Usually, he would have done something to force her awake anyway, right?]
[He wasn't very lucid when he'd been dragged in there three hours ago, and he's not really very lucid now, either. Besides! Maka had looked so tired...]
D'you feel better? Have you rested properly? [Man, looking at Maka over Strip's boobs is hard. He sits up and leans against the wall/window to look at his daughter better.]
[Maka sighs when he continues to speak. It's late, and some of the people here want to sleep, so she slowly drags herself out of the bed. She winces a bit at her insanely sore muscles, but she wants to get them moving anyway. She doesn't intend to stay here forever.
She steps over to his bed, happy that she doesn't have to try and look over Stripp's massive...assets. She has a seat in the chair beside his bed, not making eye contact.]
[Sit next to me, Maka... *A* Spirit makes space just in case you want to...]
I guess it's been. We should do something about this clinic one of these days. And I'm fine. [doofy smile.] It'll take more than that stupid sawhead to kill me.
Yeah, it is. [Weak attempt at a laugh, and then he puts his communicator away so he can focus his sorta dazed self at Maka 100%. This is a better end to the day, at least.]
I did, but that guy is pretty strong! No wonder Justin gets so riled up with him.
Justin...doesn't really get riled up. But I know what you mean.
[Growing quiet again, Maka looked over her shoulder at Soul before turning her head back toward her father, her eyes falling to the bright white sheets.]
[Considers the question... Considers it... It's tempting to say yes, that he's mad, because Soul just attacked his darling baby daughter. Weapons don't attack their meisters. But Spirit isn't that unreasonable.]
If you promise you won't tell him, I'll tell you I'm not. [makes a face] It's not his fault he has the black blood, and besides Stein gets crazy during madness, too, and I don't get very angry at him.
Why would it matter if I told him? [She knows how Papa feels about Soul, but still.] You know he's going to be upset about this. The less people mad at him, the better.
[She's frowning, angry with herself too.] It's just as much my fault. We're a team, and I let him get sucked into madness.
[She's silent for a long time, and then:] What about Adachi? [What were they going to do?]
Because it's not okey for him to let that happen. There's no room for complacence in a deathscythe. [And Soul is going to be a deathscythe one day.] Yeah, you shouldn't have let him get sucked into madness, but it's happened and now he has to deal with the fear of hurting you in the future. It's more than guilt, Maka.
[He doesn't sound disappointed or accusatory, at least. Just factual. A large part of him wants them to feel better about this, to comfort them, but he also knows that no amount of cajoling will make them stop beating themselves up, anyway. Might as well push forward and try harder. These two understand how all-encompassing a partnership is, and that's more than many of their students.]
[Spirit doesn't speak for a long time after that, either.] We can't afford to send more teams to look for him. We need to see how to redirect manpower.
I know... [Maka looks down, pouting. She doesn't like being reprimanded, especially by her father, who always seemed to deserve it more in her opinion. But in this case, she is the one who needs it.]
We'll just have to work harder. [Her voice firms up a little bit, though it might only be for the benefit of others. Still, she knows what she has to do.]
We're not going to go after him? [She looks a little incredulous, even if she understands how under-staffed they are.] They'll revive him, and then we'll have two Kishin to worry about.
They could have already revived him. But we can't let people go while we're weakened, and we have to call the Deathscythes back. Anyway, Adachi would still be weak from being sealed, so he wouldn't be able to do anything for a while.
Asura was weakened too, and even Shinigami couldn't stop him from escaping.
[She doesn't want to be pessimistic, but things don't look too good from where she's looking.]
Hey, Papa... [Her voice is quiet as she brings up yet another topic.] ...Do you think it's weird that you didn't burn me? You know, back then? [When Maka had grabbed him, she'd almost been certain that there would be have resonance backlash, simply due to their history.]
Basically a room full of AWESOME. Spirit, Katsura, Maka, Soul, Stripp, America, and England so far.]

I don't know. It's been loud.
[Her eyes flick over for a brief moment.]
You okay, too? You look terrible.

It's bound to get crowded in these kinds of situations.
[She shrugs.]
You fought Giriko alone?

You're not mad at Soul, are you, Papa?
