Description: John discovers a piano, tl;dr version. Care to join him?
He found the obscure little place that evening, stumbling upon it as he was exploring the city after his work hours. There were all these nooks and crannies in this city that were sometimes easy to miss, so as of recently he had found it pretty entertaining to see what he could discover in these places! It was sort of like adventuring, like exploring his Land back in SBURB, and the best part was that he didn't need a creepy alien to send him a map! There was already a basic one in the communicator, and it was enough to work with.
Truth be told, when he first found the music store, he wasn't particularly excited by it. Sure, it was pretty cool, with some classy looking records in the shelves and stacks of CDs of nifty bands that looked obscure enough (maybe even Dave would approve!). But John wasn't into the nitty gritty ins and outs of the music world. His dad taught him since he was really little, and he enjoyed playing the piano, and... that was all it came down to, really. He didn't even know how to read sheet music! John just played whenever he felt like it, and played whatever he felt like playing.
So he turned to leave and see if he could find some other little place, when something near the doorway caught his attention. Lo and behold, a piano! A simple one, one that admittedly looked kind of beat and worn and not very grandiose at all and--
-- It reminded him exactly of his piano back home. Well... er. The one that he had before Rose destroyed it. Yeah.
He sat down on the piano bench which let out a high creeeak, and he placed his fingertips on the keys. Man, it really had been a while since he played, huh? For some reason, it felt kind of odd to play without his dad around, but he found himself playing the
first few hesitant notes before he fully realized it himself. The keys felt kind of foreign but the tune itself was familiar, the first actual song he learned from his father that wasn't Mary Had A Little Lamb or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or weaksauce stuff like that!
The notes started out quiet and slow, since... well, after being in the city for so long without a piano, he had his own doubts about how well he could play. But soon he found that it really wasn't very hard to play at all, to get back into the swing of the notes, and it felt pretty natural actually! This much was evident by the increase in energy as the song progressed and the grin that eventually spread on his face.
The sounds of the piano could be heard in the streets outside the open door of the little music store to anybody who happened to pass by during the song. And, uh, all of the little tunes that followed. The guy behind the register didn't seem give any sort of fucks about John's playing whatsoever, so he took the opportunity to keep going, as if the piano would just disappear the next day, however silly the notion probably was.
[TL;DR JOHN IS IN A MUSIC STORE AND PLAYING PIANO THAT IS ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW l-lol. Action or prose, take your pick! Either is totally fine with me.]
