them had met, and during that encounter Heine had commented on Kanda's ballsy attitude. More importantly, he had commented on how Heine had liked his ballsy attitude. In that moment, as he watched the dark-haired man raise to the challenge, saw his own cocky and aggressive smirk mirrored back at him and heard the tone of those words that Heine didn't understand, he was reminded explicitly of why he had felt such twisted approval of the guy's attitude.
As they stood there in front of one another with that very limited distance between them and without the sense of urgency that had been present before, Heine had more time to regard the swordsman in detail. There were things he recognised instantly as possessing himself, at least in part. Things like confidence in a particular stance, the projection of not generally wanting to be social with others, the obvious pleasure at the very implication of a fight approaching, and especially the look in his eyes. Those eyes were in fact what Heine was immediately focused on and they were showing no signs of backing down at all.
Yeah, Heine liked that a lot. And somehow found that as he allowed that long moment to hang he was starting to like the attitude the other man held more and more. He wanted to push the tension crackling between them, see how much further it would stretch before the much desired snap.
While he did have some kind of understanding for the concept of personal space, Heine didn't care much about throwing the rules out the window for effect and because of that he dared to take a step even closer. The toes of his boots intentionally bumped up to those that the exorcist was wearing, and by that point he had drawn close enough so that a single full inhale would have brought forward enough for it to actually touch to Kanda's. Though his breathing was kept rather intentionally shallow, for the time being.
"No damn clue what you're saying, but I don't like how you're saying it," he growled quietly at the other man, though just about everything except the words themselves said that the swordsman should keep doing what he was doing, exactly the way he was doing it because Heine fucking approved. "So either talk in a way I can understand or shut the hell up."
