Mall? islovedbydeath March 8 2011, 02:42:02 UTC
Misa was at the mall, trying to find an outfit for Halloween. Yes, she still intended to help Matty find a costume, of course, but girls always took longer when it came to clothes shopping, right? So the idol was browsing the costume section as she caught sight of a familiar mop of hair and clothes passing. Plain white shirt and blue jeans. The slouched posture. Looked like L all right.

"..Ryuuga-san?" she called, assuming it was the sleuth detective and using his assumed persona while in Death City.

B stared curiously at the Halloween costumes. Americans tended to do interesting things for Halloween, didn't they? And this was ~magical America~, so it had to go double. With the skills at makeup he possessed, would it not be a crime to abstain from using them for amazing halloween effects?

Well, of course it wouldn't be. And for the third time that day, he was mistaken for L. Death City was on a roll. He'd also never heard of any female acquaintances, he thought as he turned to face Misa.

And then he stared a bit. She was ... ridiculously cute.

"Well, almost," he finally answered, pulling on his lip. His character did not break any more than his gaze did.

"Almost? Of course it's Ryuuga, silly! Did you come to help Misa with choosing her outfit?" Not too terribly likely, of course. More a coincidence in timing if anything. That or Light sent him out to find her and get her to hurry up because he missed her. Which could be it.

"Do you think Misa should be a nurse or get some material and make a Gothic Lolita dress for Halloween?" she asked, showing him the nurse outfit on it's hanger in front of her.

Oh, of course it's Ryuuga. Well.

"Silly? My mistake," B said with a shrug, rolling with it. Which lead him to his next move - staring at the nurse costume like a deer in the headlights.

What the hell was he supposed to do with this? L probably wouldn't care, he thought. But B was all for cute girls in cute costumes, so after a moment of decision, he tilted his head.

"Mmm... I don't doubt that you could look good in a nurse's costume, but I think you can do better."

She seemed to have good fashion sense - this was the correct answer, right?

Misa got the inkling that something might have been a little off, but she didn't say anything, merely shrugging it off. After all, why would anyone want to impersonate Ryuuga, right? Right. And if anything and he got more suspicious she could always mention it to Light later. He'd know what was going on, he always did.

Besides, the answer did sort of work with her opinion of the detective being a perv, even if there was a sort of truce of friendship, of sorts, between the trio. "Hm....you're right, Misa should make a dress of her own, huh?" she said, looking down at the nurse outfit thoughtfully.

"That's the idea," he replied with deliberate nonchalance.

"Besides the benefit of a more unique result, having a project to work on is good for the mind."

"Ryuuga is always right, he's so smart!" Misa exclaimed with a smile, moving to lean in and kiss him on the cheek in appreciation before she made to put the nurse outfit back with the other costumes. "Thanks for the help, Misa needs to go find some material now. Did Ryuuga need help with his costume for Halloween?" the chatty blonde asked, wanting to return the favor somehow, at least.

"Ryuuga" was momentarily startled. Furthermore, he now had to wonder what kind of relationship this girl had to L...!? His mouth hung open for a moment.

Luckily though, B was able to reel it in. By diverting his attention to the costumes on the wall. Clearly, he was staying on topic, not being particularly awkward.

"I ... may be morbidly curious about your opinion of what I should wear," he said, although it was in a disinterested tone. One that would imply that he wasn't going to put on whatever it was she picked.

Misa couldn't help the small smile at the expression on the detective's face. It was exactly the same as before when she had kissed him after proclaiming them friends.

"Misa has only ever seen Ryuuga wear a white shirt and jeans though. And sneakers when you go outside. Is Ryuuga really coming?"

"I do have an abundance of free time," B slipped his hands into his pockets. He had liked Halloween as a child. Perhaps it was something he should add to his interests. After all, he didn't know what he liked anymore.

"So Ryuuga-san might come!" The idol proclaimed, trying to imagine him wearing anything other than the familiar jeans and white shirt. "Would Ryuuga-san dress up?"

Would Ryuuga-san? Probably not. Would B? Of course! But these cases of mistaken identity could be helpful to him for as long as he kept it up, so he decided to answer the question with a question. His gaze met hers.

"Is it that important?"

"Of course it is! Dressing up and getting candy, having parties, is what people do on Halloween, Ryuuga-san!" Misa explained, waving a finger at the fake detective for emphasis.
