Kurt arrives somewhat cautiously. He knows Vriska is still also here, and even though Kanaya told him she was much worse off than Kanaya herself was, he's still a little worried he might see her being pushed around in a wheelchair by a nurse or something. He peaks into Kanaya's room through the window before entering.
Kanaya might appreciate the jade green scarf he's wearing under his collar, which mostly hides the purple-yellow bruising left over from Vriska's stomp, as well as the bandage still covering his surgery wound.
He enters quietly, not saying anything, both because he can't and because he's not sure what to say. "Hi" probably won't cut it. Somewhat unsure of what to do, he sits down on a chair beside her bed, and gets a good look at her. She's seen better days, but seems fine beyond a few scratches and some bruising. He chooses not to say anything, and instead just waves his fingers accompanied by an awkward smile.
She's looking out the window when he arrives, and she jumps when the door opens. She smiles at him, waiting until he sits down to speak. He looks much better than when she saw him last, and she's glad that he seems to be healing well.
"I approve of that scarf," she says. A simple hi doesn't feel right.
Kurt's eyes dart down to look at it - the color choice hadn't necessarily been intentional. A subconscious choice, probably. But the color does compliment the rest of his outfit, which he'd chosen to wear only after discovering Kanaya's post and her location.
He gets out his communicator (they've told him that he can possibly start trying to talk tomorrow, though his voice probably won't manage much beyond whispers, if he's lucky), and types:
Thanks. I know better to wear dull or monotone colors around you.
She smiles when she sees the message. Of course he does. She'd be disappointed he didn't. But her initial happiness at seeing him only lasts so long, and she fixes him with a more serious look.
He shrugs slightly before typing: Fine, I think. I'm not supposed to try saying anything louder than a whisper until tomorrow. I definitely don't want to tax my voice so I'm sticking to communicating like this, for now. But I can whisper, if I want to.
He shows her this, then meets her eyes and comes in a little closer so she can hear. "See? Almost good as new," he says, voice a little raspy and very quiet. But it's there. It's something. Not really good as new, but close.
She smiles slightly. She doesn't approve of him seemingly making light of it, but she also doesn't want to make things more awkward than she's sure they're going to be.
"I'm very glad to hear it. I don't want you talking if you don't have to, though. You'll heal faster." Things like that make her everyone's lusus.
He probably will tell Souji, too, but since the shit hit the fan and Kanaya came back and the Watch started going after Vriska and talking about what might happen to Kanaya... well. Kurt hadn't been in the best of moods, to say the least.
You should be. And not to change the subject out of nowhere unannounced or anything, but I've kind of been worried all day. You do know that ideally, you shouldn't have done what you did, right? Justice is different here. The old version of justice - an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth - hasn't been practiced for millennia.
Kurt looks down and for a while can do nothing but shake his head. Honestly? A cruel part of him is almost glad Vriska is having to experience some of the pain he he had to deal with - but only almost. That's brutal. That's a terrible thought to have. Does he want her serving time, though? He doesn't know. She is just a kid, albeit a really freaking screwed up one.
Eventually he writes, I don't know what punishment would actually mean something to her. What would work the best to make sure she never pulls something like this again?
She just gives him her best "Kurt Hummel you sir are a stupid" look.
"What would work the best is what I did, because it was me doing it." She shakes her head. "Back home, Vriska was part of another revenge plot that went much worse than a simple fistfight."

You're the first person I've told. No one else knows I can do that yet.

That's the truth; she's a little surprised he didn't tell at least Souji first.

"I'm sorry to have made you worry," and she does sound genuine. "Did you want her punished in a way that will mean something?"
