Siel could only handle so much. It hadn't even been a week since he had arrived, and he was already being hassled by his brother-- not that it was anything he didn't expect, but his status as a Weapon gave fodder for Bel to antagonize him, and what's more, it seemed like he was trying to get him to partner up with him.

He, Rasiel, the older brother and the better brother, the king-- partnering up with Belphegor? The younger brother, the inferior brother? The man who was a mere prince?

The very notion of the idea was preposterous. Perhaps, if their situations were reversed-- if Rasiel was the Meister, not the Weapon, and Belphegor was the one who had only recently come to Death City, then maybe he would have considered it.

(No, he wouldn't have; Rasiel wouldn't have gotten himself in this situation in the first place. He, unlike his brother, was much more flexible in interacting with others, and clearly, he would have been able to find a Weapon for himself if he was in Belphegor's situation.)

But when Belphegor was the Meister? When Rasiel was the tool?

Absurd. It would not happen. Rasiel had lived twenty-seven years without being upped by his brother once (his first death did not count; Belphegor cheated then)-- he would not let this change now of all times.

Now he was no longer lax about getting a partner; with Belphegor being one who would most likely seek after him for partnership, Rasiel needed to find himself someone else who would be willing to be his partner. And it couldn't be hard, could it? After all-- who wouldn't want to be partners with a king?

Until then, he swore to avoid his lookalike. This was actually a task that he knew would prove more difficult to be than the other; after all, Belphegor knew this place better than he did, which was surely an advantage; adding that with the fact that Rasiel had no idea whatsoever about how much free time his brother had (which, he deduced, would most likely be a lot of time), it would not take too long to find him. There were not that many places of residency for newcomers, and he couldn't trust the maintainers of the apartments to keep his location a secret.

In order to counter this advantage, he'd have to start early. Seven, that seemed like a decent time to go out and look for a partner; normal people woke up at this time, right? His brother, god curse his soul, was, as Siel knew, lazy-- there wasn't a large of a chance that he would actually be out and about at this time of day. It was perfect, his "plan". There couldn't be anything that could go wrong; Siel was a genius, after all, and he'd know whether a plan was brotherproof or not-- and this one was definitely brotherproof.

Or so he thought, until he opened the door.

Habit alone was what caused Bel to look over his shoulder at the sound of movement. He knew better than to think anyone in this city would attack out in the open, too many worthless do-gooders wandering around all the time.

But what he saw caused him to pause, the keys completely forgotten about as the shock slowly registered and faded from his mind. Just what were the fucking odds?

It didn't take long at all for the initial surprise to wear off and the grin to come to Bel's face. Oh yes, this made things much easier in the long run. "Shishi... Morning Siel~"

Already his hand was moving from his keys to were he kept one of his knives. If the bastard wouldn't show his weapon form, Bel would make him show it.
